Chapter 13 - The Wedding Day

The long-awaited day had finally arrived. The wedding day with the most ruthless woman known in Dormania, the land where they lived.

Though not everyone knew the woman's face, her name—Valeria Scarlett—had spread throughout Dormania, along with tales of how she ran her business.

The police even chose not to touch her. No one wanted to end up dead at her hands. Or they would return, haunted by the trauma and fear that woman had instilled in them.

On her wedding day, Valeria was still busy sleeping in her comfortable bed because she didn't care about her wedding at all. She hadn't even prepared anything for her wedding day.

Knock knock

The sound of a knock on the door was heard, followed by an old woman's voice from behind the door. "Miss Valeria? Miss Valeria, wake up. It's your wedding day," she said.

But she ignored Jane and continued sleeping. Since there was no response, the door was forced open, and Jane entered the room along with several servants, startling Valeria from her sleep.

"What the fuck?! Why did you all come into my room without my permission?!" she asked angrily.

"Please forgive us, Miss Valeria. But this is an order from the Master to get you ready for the wedding venue immediately," Jane replied.

Valeria snorted in annoyance, saying there would be no wedding for her. She hadn't done a single thing Dominic had told her to do for their wedding. But the servants still dragged her into the bathroom and cleaned her up.

They helped Valeria into the car to head to the wedding venue.

"It's your wedding day, but why did you wake up late?" Donn asked his daughter.

"Hmph, I never said I agreed to this wedding. It's your idea for getting married. Why don't you just get married?" Valeria asked angrily.

Donn was already 43 years old, but his face was still considered attractive and charming among women. Plus, his ex-wife was also very beautiful, giving birth to Valeria, who looked perfect in everyone's eyes.

"Don't talk nonsense! This is for your own good. Now lift your head and smile in front of the guests later."

"Heh, where are we even going? I haven't even prepared anything for this wedding," the woman said with a wry smile.

"You'll see later." Donn leaned back in his seat, gazing out the car window.

Their car sped toward the wedding venue that had been prepared—a massive Victorian-style building in the heart of Vansia. It was an extremely expensive venue to rent, even for just a few hours, but for Dominic, that wasn't an issue, even though he had to rent it for days for his wedding.

It was like taking change out of his pocket. He had deliberately arranged everything without Valeria's knowledge.

"W-what? He… He prepared all this without my knowledge?!" She was shocked to realize that Dominic was always two steps ahead of her.

"Do you think, with your attitude, Mr. Lawrence wouldn't have a Plan B? He's someone you can't underestimate, daughter."

Valeria was immediately taken to a room to put on the dress that Dominic had specially ordered himself. A long white ball gown with off-shoulder sleeves that made her look like a princess.

She looked into the large mirror in front of her as the maids smoothed out the gown's wide skirt, styled her hair, and applied her makeup.

'This… is my wedding day. I… I'm really getting married—' she thought.

The door opened, revealing Jane entering the room and asking the other attendant to leave. Now there were only the two of them in the room: Valeria and her mother's loyal servant.

"Congratulations on your wedding, Miss Valeria. Soon you'll be taking the name Lawrence," she said.

"I don't know, Jane, I hate this wedding. I want to leave and... Ugh... It's so annoying..."

The woman touched Valeria's hand and stroked it gently. "Mrs. Arabella would be so happy to see you wearing this white dress."

She placed a necklace around Valeria's neck. A necklace with a blue sapphire that matched her eyes. "This necklace… It belonged to my mother…"

"That's right, this necklace has been passed down through Mrs. Arabella's family. Every time one of her female descendants gets married, this necklace is given to her. Only to her direct female descendants, not a daughter in-law," Jane explained.

"I thought it was buried with her," Valeria murmured, touching the necklace around her neck.

She smiled gently at Jane, then asked for something before the wedding ceremony began.

"Can you buy me something?"

*****

On the streets of Vansia, black cars with flowers on their hoods formed a single line heading toward Dominic and Valeria's wedding venue. The cars belonged to Dominic and his entire entourage—a total of up to 20 black cars driving in formation.

People stopped to watch the extraordinary sight: the cars of a famous mafia boss and billionaire heading toward his massive, ultra-luxurious wedding venue.

"Amazing—Lawrence really is from a wealthy family. No wonder he has so many cars," praised a man.

"That's nothing! He has even more, especially since he's a famous mobster. It's a tradition for mobsters to arrive at their weddings like this. It really is a huge party," said his female friend.

"I heard he's marrying Valeria Scarlett. She must be so lucky to have such a famous and wealthy husband. With this, his mafia group will only grow stronger."

Everyone was talking about the lavish wedding, wishing they too had been born with a silver spoon—that is, into a wealthy family—so they could attend the wedding.

Upon arriving at the wedding venue, Dominic got out of his car alongside Rogan. He smoothed out his white suit and looked toward his men.

They stepped out of the car carrying gifts from Dominic for Valeria. There was a beautiful gown, expensive jewelry, and countless other items—the total value of everything to be given to the woman was beyond calculation.

"Welcome, Mr. Lawrence. We've been waiting for you. Valeria is in her room. Ready to get married," said Donn, greeting his son-in-law.

"Just call me Dominic, father-in-law. Starting today, you're my father too," he said.

Donn nodded in understanding. "Of course, please come in."

Dominic entered the building along with Donn and all his men. Each of them carried a dowry gift worth more than 5 billion dollar.

All around the building, men from both the Scarlett Family and the Lawrence Family stood guard with their weapons.

Everyone had gathered inside the room—friends, family, and others. It was time for the wedding to begin.

The man with black hair stood in front of the marriage officiant, waiting for his bride-to-be to enter the room.

"I'm curious what the bride will look like. I heard she's very beautiful, even though she's a bit of a troublemaker," a guest whispered to his partner.

"Sshh! Don't talk nonsense. Have you forgotten this is the wedding of two major mafia families? Our business could go bankrupt if we say the wrong thing!"

The invited guests, who had been waiting for the bride's arrival, finally breathed a sigh of relief as the door opened.

Valeria, accompanied by Donn, walked into the room. Cameras snapped photos of her arrival, capturing the historic moment where the daughter of Dormania's most ruthless mafia boss was about to marry the wealthiest mafia boss in two countries.

She walked gracefully, holding a bouquet of her favorite red roses. A smile graced her beautiful face as she walked down the red carpet toward her future husband.

"She's so beautiful... The bride is truly stunning!"

"That's right, she's enchanting. I'm actually jealous of Mr. Lawrence," praised the other.

When Valeria was standing before Dominic, Donn placed his daughter's hand in the man's. "Hold my daughter's hand. Make her happy, because I'm sure you can do it."

"Of course, I'm sure I can make her happy," replied Dominic, with Valeria's hand on his arm.

Her beautiful face was covered by a slightly transparent wedding veil, revealing her lovely, smiling face. Dominic leaned close to Valeria's ear and whispered, "You're breathtaking, ginger."

Valeria's smile grew wider upon hearing those words.

'Let's see how long you can last without breathing.'
