Lucas's feet turned instantly cold. He was utterly speechless.
After swallowing hard, he knew he had to come up with something to change Westley's mind over their families' past war, anything at least, but his mind felt blank, and he couldn't think of something to say.
Westley, on the other hand, gave him a cold, questioning look, raising an eyebrow. "If you are going to remain silent, then better use the exit. My wife can't just be outside waiting because of all this nonsense you're bringing up here in my office."
His words came out harshly as the memory of Lucas bothering his wife last night, as recounted by his bodyguard, resurfaced.
"Westley, please, I humbly beg on behalf of my late great-grandfather. I promise not to be devious like the others. If there is anything I can do to earn your trust, please tell me." Lucas pleaded on his knees.
