Mystified, Evie stared straight ahead, seeing nothing but Gabriel and the elegantly decorated accent wall behind him.
Frustrated, she gritted her teeth. With a sudden, sharp motion, she slammed her fist onto the table, causing the tray of food to clatter against the wood.
Did this anonymous jerk seriously think he could fool me with his clever little games? She clenched her fist tighter.
Her sudden outburst instantly drew the attention of every diner in the room. Whispers broke out as people stared at her strangely.
Evie completely ignored them and pulled up her messages to text Anonymous Jack again.
Watching her closely, Gabriel asked, "What's wrong?"
Annoyed, Evie shot him a cold look and snapped, "None of your business."
She went back to typing, demanding to know why he was exhausting her patience and putting her through so much unnecessary stress. But before she could hit send, another text from Anonymous Jack popped up on her screen:
