Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX: 'Cozy' Dinner

Anna

"HE SAVED YOU?!" I shout in shock. My phone was about to slip from my hand.

"Yes, he did." Ari says from the other end of the call. I don't need to see her to know that she's curled up on her bed, already in her nightwear— pink tank top and shorts. My most hated color.

"But HOW! WHY! WHEN!" I just can't hold back my amazement! My head might burst!

Nathan saved Ari from Sumi, grabbing Sumi's arm—That's hilarious!

"I already told you about that two times, Anna." Her voice is annoyed.

"But still it makes no sense!"

"For you, only the concepts of maths and physics make sense!" She snaps.

I twirl my shoulder length silky black hair in my fingers, "Probably Ari…"

"Propably what?"

"Nathan has lost his mind. He never acts like a hero! That's very un-Nathan!"

"Oh Anna!" Ari sounds irritated, "You know what, I should've never told you about that scene. You're very annoying!"

I grunt, "Don't act smart. I'd already heard about that before you told me."

This time, she pays real attention to me. "When?"

"Someone said. When I was standing in the garden, cursing Tiara."

"Someone who… oh!" I'm sure she has a smirk on her face now. "Kye Yon!"

I roll my eyes.

Getting no reply from me, she starts laughing—witch!

"I can't understand why you can't stand him. I mean, yes, he's so arrogant and so this and so that… but he's so handsome, gurl!"

"Consult an eye specialist Ari. Your eyes are so weak."

"Blah! Your eyes are weak! Perhaps, you're blind! He—"

Before she could complete her sentence, I hung up the call.

Enough!

Just hearing his name tightens something in my chest—like a knot I've never been able to untie. If someone asks me, why so much rivalry? I would only stare at them with somuch hatred and rage in my eyes, they'd regret in an instant why they asked me the question in the first place.

Because the truth is… I don't know when this started.

I can't give a proper reason to detest him so much. But I can say I detest him since the day I met him! And unfortunately, I have known him since my birth! Disgusting!

I still remember those days when we used to play together. Urgh! Our father's friendship—that's the reason behind thosedays. Three of our families gathered together until we were fourteen. Until… well I don't wanna remember that part.

After that the rivalry started between mine and Kye Yon's dad. And our childhood dislike for each other turned into hatred.

I hate him.

And I hate that I hate him.

I get chills as a cold breeze waves my hair. I stare at the moon a few minutes longer than necessary and go to my bedroom from the balcony to sleep. It's Sunday tomorrow and Nathan's coming over to our house. I need proper sleep to deal with him and my mum too.

I sigh.

Ting-tong

There the door bell rings.

Before I'd get up from the sofa and open the door, mum rushes in to open it.

"Oh Aunty!" "Aww my boy!"

Both of them shout in unison standing at the doorway. Nathan hugs my mum in over affection. And mum hugs him back like he's her own son.

"I missed you so much Aunty!" Nathan exclaims.

"You liar!" Mum waves her hand in the air. "You never did miss me. You missed my food."

Nathan grins, "Exactly!"

I raise an eyebrow at him. How much flattering!

Mum laughs and ruffles his hair, though he has to bend down a little to let her do that.

"Look how tall you've been! Last time I saw you, you were this little!" She makes an imaginary height with her hand.

"Let him come in, honey." Dad says from the staircase and comes downstairs. Nathan also comes inside and sits on the sofa beside me. A look of victory is visible on his face.

Translation: Your mum loves me more than you! Ha!

I roll my eyes and make a face.

Translation: Blah! Blah! Blah!

"Ow!" Suddenly he cries out as dad slaps hard onto his arm.

"You've grown up boy! Look at all those muscles!" He says poking on his arm.

"But I'm still not as strong as you uncle! Ow! That hurts!" Nathan says, rubbing his arm.

Dad laughs out loud. I grin.

During the dinner, we again had to witness a scene so affectionate between my mum and Nathan.

Really! My eyes are blessed!

"What mum! You gave him two crab legs but me only one!" I protested being pissed.

Nathan casted a satisfied grin on his face and winked at me.

Bastard!

"Mmm! It's so delicious, Aunty!" Nathan squeaked.

Mum smiles so wide at his remark, I fear she'll get wrinkles soon. "You want some more dear?"

"It's not fair!" I shout. Everyone once looks at me, then gets busy eating again and laughs at my reaction.

They're ignoring me! Disgusting!

I kick Nathan's legs under the dining table.

Nathan jerks and in the next second, kicks me back.

Urgh!
