Chapter 30 - Chapter 29 — A Mind Game with Dongfang Qiqing

"There's another strange thing," Dongfang Qiqing said thoughtfully.

"Before those men turned on the pirates, the soldiers surrounding the area seemed unaware that anything unusual would happen."

"But afterward they accepted the situation very naturally."

"As if enemies suddenly becoming allies wasn't strange at all."

She turned toward Lin Yi, clearly hoping for an explanation.

Lin Yi spread his hands.

"To be honest, I'm curious too."

"But I don't know."

"Remember—we've only been observing from a distance. We've never actually interacted with them."

"Under those circumstances, even a genius can't magically know the answer."

He shrugged.

"Hmm… Screwllum replied."

"Let's see."

Screwllum: Mr. Lin Yi, your guess was correct.

Conclusion: Their souls indeed contain a large degree of disharmony. I have locked the problematic range using the Source Code of the Soul.

Supplement: After compilation adjustments, the disharmony appears to exist in their mind and will.

Screwllum: Without direct contact, the Shattered Mirror can only provide analysis at this level.

Suggestion: Comparing multiple mirrors should produce more detailed conclusions.

Screwllum: Repeating key finding—within the area recorded by the mirror, only you and Miss Dongfang Qiqing are completely normal.

Screwllum: Everyone else displays varying degrees of disharmony.

Hypothesis: This phenomenon is closely connected to the tower at the center.

Recommendation: Record the entire planet.

Request: My emotional circuits have developed curiosity. I would like to follow this case.

Lin Yi: Thanks, Screwllum.

Lin Yi:(Pom-Pom heart emoji)

Lin Yi: Since you're interested, I'll contact you later.

Lin Yi: Oh right—what was the deviation value for this teleportation?

Screwllum:(File transmitted)

Smaller than last time.

Screwllum: I didn't expect calibrating the Phase Walker to be so difficult that it would trouble a genius for three years.

Lin Yi:(crying emoji)

Lin Yi put away his phone.

He briefly considered activating the Laplace Demon system to speedrun this investigation.

Screwllum worked efficiently.

The Scepter he had promised earlier had already arrived.

It hadn't been fully calibrated yet, so its efficiency wasn't as high as before.

But even a single unit was enough to partially restart the Laplace Demon.

"Sir? Is something wrong?"

Dongfang Qiqing noticed his silence.

"Nothing."

"Let's keep playing."

"Oh—and one more thing."

"When I'm thinking, try not to interrupt unless it's urgent."

"Inspiration is endless… but once a moment passes, that idea may never return."

Qiqing nodded apologetically.

"Understood, sir."

"Also… they've gone quite far already."

"Then let's catch up."

Lin Yi smiled.

"This is a rare immersive mystery game."

After passing several patrol squads and automated security checkpoints, they finally arrived beneath the tower.

The tower itself was dark violet.

Energy conduits extended from surrounding buildings into its structure.

Its appearance was both solemn and sinister.

Before entering the tower with the others, Lin Yi sent another Shattered Mirror to Screwllum.

At the same time, using the Phase Walker, he quietly opened 3,600 microscopic spatial gates around the planet Kasbelinyat VIII.

All gates were connected.

Together they formed a single network.

Through them, the relic Moment Eternal simultaneously appeared at all 3,600 spatial nodes.

Originally this was a combat technique.

If a target anchored inside this network moved even slightly—

it would be torn into as many fragments as there were spatial gates.

Now, however—

all he had to do was wait.

Lin Yi and Dongfang Qiqing followed the crowd into the tower.

Security was extremely tight.

Two guards every ten steps.

Patrol teams constantly moving.

The captured pirates were escorted into a massive transport platform.

The guards themselves did not enter.

Inside were the slaves from earlier.

Before the doors closed, a glimpse of the interior could be seen.

The slaves first reacted with fear when they saw the pirates.

Then they noticed the pirates were prisoners too.

Gradually—

they moved closer.

Now it was the pirates' turn to panic.

Just before the doors sealed shut, their screams echoed briefly.

Then silence.

The soundproofing was excellent.

The guards outside showed no reaction.

It was as if they didn't care whether the pirates lived or died.

Dongfang Qiqing frowned.

"Sir… what now?"

"The door's closed."

Lin Yi shrugged.

"Let it close."

"That place feels strange anyway."

"I didn't intend to go inside."

He stepped forward.

His staff lightly tapped the floor.

An invisible wave spread outward.

It swept across the entire tower—and continued expanding.

"Alright."

Lin Yi raised his hand.

A projection of the entire tower appeared above his palm.

The structure became immediately clear.

The "tower" wasn't truly a tower.

It was actually a spindle-shaped structure, with half its mass buried deep underground.

Only the upper portion formed the visible tower.

Their current level sat at the exact center.

Above and below were perfectly symmetrical.

Balanced.

Almost obsessively so.

A dream for anyone with obsessive tendencies.

"Is this the tower's structure?" Qiqing asked.

She pointed at three glowing markers.

"One at the top."

"One at the bottom."

"One here."

"What are those?"

"High-energy reactions," Lin Yi replied.

"They indicate objects or individuals containing dense energy concentrations."

Qiqing blinked.

"Then the brightest point here…"

"…is that you?"

Lin Yi shook his head.

"Unfortunately, no."

"My detection method wouldn't include me."

Qiqing frowned.

"Then what are those three points?"

"This floor looks empty."

Lin Yi's eyes suddenly lit up.

An idea had occurred to him.

"Don't rush."

"Let's play a game."

"Just treat it as a thought experiment."

Qiqing straightened slightly.

"Alright."

Lin Yi continued.

"Imagine you're an enemy of this warlord faction."

"Or maybe a Galaxy Ranger."

"You suspect this tower is hiding something."

"You know nothing else."

"How would you investigate?"

Qiqing thought briefly.

"…I would start exploring upward."

"And keep going until I reached the top."

Lin Yi nodded approvingly.

"Correct."

"That's the most natural reaction."

He continued.

"Now imagine you survive all the dangers and reach the top."

"But the energy signal there is the weakest."

"So tell me."

"Do you think you'd find what you're looking for?"

"Or what do you think the top actually is?"

Qiqing answered immediately.

"A decoy."

"To make intruders believe they've succeeded."

"Or a trap."

Lin Yi smiled slightly.

"Good."

"Now suppose you survive the trap."

"But still find nothing."

"When you return the next time…"

"…what would you do?"
