A horn suddenly sounded outside, for three times.
Emergency.
Atheline and Lilith looked toward the door. Zelpher entered seconds later, his expression pale.
"Your Majesties."
"What happened?"
"A message from the eastern border."
His stomach tightened.
"Corruption?"
Zelpher nodded.
"Thousands."
Lilith immediately moved, he followed.
Then Zelpher spoke again.
"There's something else."
They stopped and turned to him.
Zelpher swallowed.
"The corrupted aren't attacking."
He slowly turned.
"What are they doing?"
"Standing."
"Where?"
"Outside the defensive line."
"Thousands of them?"
"Yes."
Atheline's expression darkened.
"Why?"
Zelpher looked toward the report in his hand.
"The soldiers say they're all facing the same direction."
Lilith's eyes narrowed.
"Toward what?"
Zelpher looked at them.
"The World Tree."
Silence filled the room. Then he gave them the final line of the report.
"They're repeating something."
