For a heartbeat
No one moved.
The crushed drive fell from Dante's hand, hitting the ground with a dull, final sound.
The man in front of them stared at it.
Then back at Dante.
Something dangerous replaced the calm in his eyes.
"You've made a mistake," he said quietly.
Dante didn't blink.
"No," he replied. "I ended your leverage."
Camille's pulse hammered.
Around them, weapons lifted subtle, controlled, but ready.
The air thickened.
One wrong move
And everything would explode.
The man exhaled slowly, like he was recalculating.
"You really believe that was the only copy?" he asked.
Dante's jaw tightened.
That was not the answer he expected.
Camille's stomach dropped.
"What… does that mean?" she whispered.
The man's gaze shifted to her.
"Your father was many things," he said. "Careless wasn't one of them."
Silence hit.
Cold.
Heavy.
Camille's chest tightened painfully.
"So there's another one," she said.
"Yes."
Her breath faltered.
