The fireworks lasted almost twenty minutes.

Gold. Silver. White sparks exploding across the dark skyline while music drifted softly around the rooftop dinner.

Camille leaned lightly against the railing afterward watching the final lights disappear into the night sky.

Peace still felt unfamiliar sometimes.

Not unwanted.

Just unfamiliar.

Dante stepped beside her quietly carrying two glasses of champagne before handing her one naturally.

His fingers brushed hers briefly.

"You're thinking again," he murmured.

Camille smiled faintly accepting the glass.

"You notice too much."

"I notice you."

That answer hit harder than it should have.

Especially with the city lights reflecting softly in his dark eyes.

God.

This man genuinely had no idea how dangerously attractive honesty became when it came from him.

Behind them Victor loudly argued with Elena about vacation plans while Adrian attempted unsuccessfully to mediate.
