The morning after Dante showed Camille the room filled with their memories, she woke up with a smile.
Not the careful smile she had learned to wear during difficult years.
Not the polite smile she gave at business meetings.
A real one.
The kind that appeared before she was even fully awake.
She turned her head.
Dante was already awake.
Of course he was.
He lay beside her, one arm beneath his head, watching her with an expression that made her immediately suspicious.
"How long have you been staring at me?"
"Long enough."
Camille pulled the blanket higher.
"That's creepy."
"You've been calling me creepy for months."
"Because you are."
He smiled.
"Yet you're marrying me."
She groaned.
"You really like reminding me of that."
"Very much."
He leaned over and kissed her forehead.
Then her cheek.
Then the corner of her mouth.
Camille laughed and pushed his shoulder.
"Stop."
"No."
"Dante."
"Good morning."
She tried not to smile.
Failed.
"Good morning."
