"I can fly now, so we don't necessarily have to provoke them."
Mohg shook his head at the thought. He had absolutely no desire to mess with those "Prawn Brothers." They were simply too vicious. Even though his and Morgott's strength had grown significantly, they were still in a precarious position compared to these overlords of the sewers.
The two giant crayfish they had encountered previously were likely only in their juvenile stage. The ones at the very bottom now... judging by the feelers poking out from the ground, they were at least near-adults, if not fully grown.
Going head-to-head with those things... Mohg told himself he was still young and didn't want to pass away quite so soon.
"That's true... Did you see where that path leads?" Morgott nodded in agreement, then turned to ask Mohg.
"I took a look. It leads to another pipe system deeper in—a place we haven't visited before. But if we want to reach our destination, that way is actually faster."
"Hmm..." Morgott once again scrutinized the giant prawns below, which remained motionless in the sludge. "Then it's settled. But we should still be careful; I'd rather not be shot down by those fellows."
"Don't worry," Mohg replied. He spread his arms, and in the next second, the wings behind his back unfurled. Seeing this, a flash of envy flickered in Morgott's eyes.
After all, who wouldn't want to experience the sensation of soaring through the sky?
Unfortunately, what he had grown was a furry-looking tail. However, anyone who assumed that tail lacked killing power would be dead wrong; hidden beneath the fur were hard, bony scales that hadn't yet fully matured.
In other words, it was essentially a morning star mace wrapped in fur.
"Take my hand."
"Right."
Morgott immediately reached out and grasped Mohg's palm. He felt a violent, fierce wind whip up around them.
Whoosh—Boom!
Accompanied by the sound of air being torn apart, the figures of Mohg and Morgott suddenly ascended. Feeling the wind rush past him, Mohg couldn't help but grin. He had to admit, soaring through the air felt incredible!
However, as happy as he was, he knew he had to stay alert. Both of them kept their eyes fixed on those two "twin-tailed" monstrosities beneath the sludge. Seeing that nothing unusual was happening below, Mohg breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly flew toward the sewage waterfall.
Splash!
The two landed heavily in the foul water, kicking up a massive spray. However, the sound was immediately drowned out by the thunderous roar of the sewage waterfall, so it failed to attract the attention of the "twin-tails" not far away.
After glancing at Morgott as he climbed out of the murky water, Mohg reached out and grabbed the iron bars in front of them. The space here was still too cramped for them; it needed to be widened to make their passage easier.
"Hah!"
With a low grunt, Mohg exerted a sudden burst of strength. The sound of metal twisting followed, and soon, a gap large enough for both Mohg and Morgott to pass through appeared before them.
"I'll head out first to check the situation."
"Yeah, better make it quick. I think that lobster has noticed us," Morgott said, his voice tightening as he watched the feelers in the distance begin to vibrate slightly toward them.
Mohg didn't waste any more words. He spread his wings and charged straight out.
Emerging from the gap, Mohg was instantly plunged into darkness. This was an exceptionally high sewage waterfall. However, there were several tiers of stone steps designed to buffer the flow of water as it descended, which explained the deafening roar they had heard.
There were no light sources in the vicinity. It made sense; the designers of this place likely never imagined anyone would ever try to go down this way. Still, a faint glow could be seen at the very bottom, likely marking the entrance to the other pipe system—their intended destination.
Thanks to his night vision, which had grown sharper over the past year, Mohg was able to make out his surroundings. The area around here was surprisingly cleaner than other parts of the sewers. As for wildlife...
Mohg spotted a few small bats hanging upside down from the ceiling. Fortunately, these were different from the giant bats he knew; otherwise, he would have let them taste the sting of his Bloodflame.
Once he was certain there was no immediate danger, Mohg beat his wings and returned to the opening. But before he could call out to Morgott, his brother came charging through the gap with explosive force.
The sight left Mohg stunned in mid-air, a look of pure bewilderment on his face. Was his "cheap" older brother going crazy? Was he trying to test out the laws of free-fall?
"Mohg! That lobster found us!"
Just as Mohg was processing the shock, Morgott's voice drifted up from below. Mohg's expression snapped into focus, and he whipped his head back toward the opening.
A giant crayfish—which was taller even while crouching than Mohg was standing—was slightly opening its mouthparts, and bubbles were beginning to foam around its maw.
"Shit!"
Mohg cursed. He dove downward, plummeting toward Morgott's position.
Bang!
Boom!
Hearing the terrifying sound of a high-pressure water jet slamming into the wall behind them, Mohg felt his scalp go numb. Fortunately, it seemed the "Shrimp Brother" was blocked by the bars and couldn't come through to beat them.
While the creature certainly had the strength to tear the place down, it surely wouldn't hunt them down just for this, right? They didn't have any real grudge against each other... did they?
Mohg wasn't entirely sure, but the priority now was to catch Morgott.
Wham!
With a powerful flap of his wings, Mohg accelerated, reaching Morgott's side in an instant and grabbing his hand.
"Got you! Hold on tight, we're heading further down."
"Good." Seeing Mohg catch him, Morgott let out a breath of relief and nodded.
A moment later, Mohg followed the light from below and arrived at the bottom. The situation finally became clear to them. They were looking at a turbulent river of sewage. At the end was an exit blocked by iron bars, leading to a sludge pool very similar to the one where they had encountered the Omens before. The space here was considerably larger.
Clang!
Suddenly, the sound of metal shattering echoed from far above their heads.
The two seemed to realize exactly what that meant. Their faces twitched simultaneously, and without looking back, they hurried into the sewage river.
