Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: The Confrontation

"I think your plan is a bit too far-fetched. Those spirits likely cannot leave that platform; the summoning range of a Spirit-call Snail must have its limits."

Morgott, though initially shocked, quickly shook his head and dismissed Mohg's idea.

"It was just a thought. Using the spirits was only one theory; there are many other ways. We could even utilize the traps and the natural power of this place to deal with the grave robbers who are bound to come here."

Mohg finally revealed his true hand, showing his real intentions.

"You want to stay here?!"

Morgott gasped, looking at Mohg in disbelief.

"To eliminate those grave robbers, bathe in the blood of the mighty, and seize their weapons and armor—it is the fastest way for us to grow stronger right now."

"This..."

Meeting Mohg's gaze, Morgott fell into hesitation once more. He had to admit that while Mohg's ideas carried risk, the potential rewards were incredibly tempting.

"I think we need to deliberate further. Ideally, we should first get a clear grasp of the power contained within this catacomb."

"Of course. And the layout of the tomb—that is equally vital. It is difficult to wage a guerrilla war in a place you don't know like the back of your hand."

As he spoke, Mohg pulled out the sewer structural map and flipped it over to the blank side. "We will complete a map of this catacomb bit by bit, familiarizing ourselves with it as quickly as possible so we don't get lost later."

"Agreed."

After an indeterminate amount of time, Morgott turned to Mohg with a look of pure suspicion. "Hey... are you... lost?"

"Impossible. Absolutely impossible. I am following the map to the letter," Mohg replied with a straight face, pointing at the map he had drawn with fresh blood.

Morgott snatched the map away, his face darkening by the second. "Tell me then—what on earth did you draw here?!"

"I haven't the slightest clue!" Mohg folded his hands behind his back, looking up at the ceiling at a forty-five-degree angle and shaking his head silently.

"Deep breath... in... out... This is my brother. My flesh and blood. Stay calm, Morgott..." After a few deep breaths, Morgott finally composed himself. "Now, we are going to backtrack to where we started and walk the route again. Clear?"

"Mm-hmm, mm-hmm."

Mohg nodded vigorously. The two of them slowly felt their way back to their original position, and then...

"Who... are you?"

Mohg and Morgott slowly fanned out, squinting at the figures crawling through the opening in the wall.

"Talking Omens? It seems you two are the anomalies I've heard about. What a stroke of... good luck."

Ripp realized who they were, his lips curling into a joyful smirk. "If it's you two, I think you'd make rather excellent additions to my collection."

BOOM!

The words had barely left his lips when Kellot lunged. His terrifying speed propelled his greatsword toward the twins in the blink of an eye.

Whoosh—CRASH—

"Close call, close call... To think you can actually use incantations. This is getting ridiculous, isn't it?" Kellot wiped a thin trail of blood from his cheek, glancing at the massive golden tail that had just slammed into the wall beside him.

Mohg's face darkened as the Aspects of the Crucible: Tail gradually dissolved into golden light.

"Watch out!" Morgott's voice rang out as he yanked Mohg to his side. Edwin's silhouette slowly materialized nearby; he shook his head with regret. "And here I thought I had you..."

"In a moment, run straight toward the traps. I'll fly us up to the second floor," Mohg whispered, drawing his foil and coating it in a layer of Bloodflame.

A surge of intense energy erupted as the crest of the Sorcery Academy lit up the dark. Glintstone Stars! And hidden within the barrage was a Great Glintstone Shard!

Seeing the magic closing in, Mohg unfurled his wings, grabbed Morgott, and charged toward the rear. Morgott conjured a golden shield to intercept the first star, but the shield shattered instantly upon impact.

Edwin pulled his longbow, aiming at the retreating pair. Through-and-Through!

Thwack—

The violent sound of piercing air echoed through the hall. Squelch— "Ngh—" Mohg took an arrow to the back, but he didn't slow down. He reached the trap mechanism in the blink of an eye.

Kellot pursued them, but seeing the two dive into the corridor, he pulled up short, his instincts screaming a warning.

"Whew..." Mohg gritted his teeth against the pain, silently searing the faces of this group into his memory. Revenge was a dish best served quickly; once they began exploring the catacombs, it would be his turn to strike!

With a swift movement, Mohg beat his wings and soared up to the second-floor ledge. Below them, the trap triggered, spewing a torrent of incinerating flames down the corridor. Kellot stopped before the wall of fire, waiting for his companions to handle the mechanism.

Throughout the entire exchange, Bohr remained detached, silently observing the surroundings.
