Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: Half a Year’s Time

"Princess Rellana, you wished to see me?" Mohg asked, performing a formal Carian Knight's salute as he addressed her.

"Indeed. Our business at the Academy is essentially complete. Though it took a bit longer than I anticipated, it remains within acceptable parameters." Rellana nodded with a smile. Half a year's time had allowed her to develop a solid level of trust in the man before her.

Mohg's eyes lit up the moment he heard those words.

Finally! He could finally leave this Academy! Do you have any idea how he had spent these past six months?!

"I understand. Is there anything I need to prepare?" Mohg asked.

"Well, there is one thing I'd like you to try. I've noticed you're on good terms with Sellen, that genius sorceress from the Karolos Conspectus. I want you to try and invite her to join the Carian Royal Family."

Mohg's eyes slowly widened. He pointed at himself, his face twisting into an expression of utter bewilderment.

"Me?"

"Yes, exactly you." Rellana nodded, her expression bright with amusement at his reaction.

"But the problem is, as far as I know, the Royal Family doesn't have much that would appeal to her," Mohg said, scratching his head.

"No, the Royal Family actually has plenty to entice her. The only question is whether she wishes to join or not." Rellana shook her head, contradicting him flatly.

Her words stirred something in Mohg's mind. Did her statement imply that the Royal Family actually possessed notes or journals regarding the Primeval Current?

Thinking about it, the possibility was quite high. After all, Rennala had mastered certain Primeval sorceries, including the signature move of Azur himself—the Soul Stream... Wait, sorry, wrong franchise. It was Comet Azur!

But if that were the case, it conflicted with his understanding of history. In his memory, the relationship between the Carian Royal Family and the Primeval Current was supposed to be quite strained. Now, they wanted him to recruit a "Witch" who was almost certainly a Primevalist...

Had he misunderstood something previously?

Mohg shook his head. He still lacked too much information, especially regarding the ancient feuds between the various glintstone sorcery conspectuses. These schools dated back to the most ancient eras of the Lands Between, and their grudges had lasted longer than he could imagine. There were likely many tangled, unspoken connections between them.

Whatever, he thought. His task was simply to extend the olive branch; whether she accepted it was another matter entirely.

It was worth noting that during these six months, Niebla, Horouf, and the others had followed his instructions to explore the underworld, eventually reaching the lands of the Eternal City.

And then... they hit a wall. No one in their group could fly, and the strength of the Stormhawks wasn't enough to carry them across such vast distances. Consequently, the progress of establishing the Dynasty in the subterranean world was temporarily halted.

They had to wait for Mohg's return to take the next step.

As for contacting the denizens of Nokron, the Eternal City—don't even mention it. The Ancestral Followers along the way were significant obstacles, let alone trying to build a massive ladder to reach Nokron right under their noses.

After consulting Mohg, they established a Blood Basin in the lower lands and returned to the surface. After all, Niebla's official report to his superiors was only that he had sent a small team to explore the area in search of a potential cure.

During the following period, they continued to refine the construction of their stronghold in Limgrave. Everything beneath the abandoned Church of Dragon Communion was now complete: the Blood Basin, statues, training grounds, and the cultivation fields for Bloodroses. They had also gathered various talents necessary for the Dynasty's growth.

This included doctors, blacksmiths, miners, and more. In fact, due to the specific practices of the Mohgwyn Dynasty, the medical proficiency of their doctors was significantly higher than that of most others in the Lands Between.

These developments were inseparable from Niebla's support. He had gathered many of the personnel and established a respectable intelligence network.

During this time, Mohg had descended to grant another blessing, fulfilling his earlier promise to Horouf and the others. As for the heart-to-heart talks about ideals and dreams, those would have to wait until they met officially.

Aside from that, the biggest commotion in Limgrave was the Storm Lord's military preparations.

To the surprise of everyone else in the Lands Between, the Storm Lord's army did not march toward the Lakes to face the Golden Order. Instead, they headed straight for Caelid. This move even confused the Carian commanders stationed at the border; they only relaxed after a brief exchange with the commanders from Stormveil.

However, the Storm Lord's actions made things much easier for Niebla and his cohorts. Even the Bloody Fingers who had previously entered Caelid found their operations simplified. Taking advantage of the chaos, they recruited many members in Caelid and established a rudimentary stronghold within a cavern.

It had to be said that even though Mohg's physical body hadn't appeared much during the founding of the Mohgwyn Dynasty, the construction was flourishing.

Yet, a sense of urgency began to prick at Mohg's mind. The news sent back from those he left on the Altus Plateau was enough to catch his attention.

His eldest brother, Godwyn, leading his personal guards and the main army of the Royal Capital, had entered a state of total, white-hot war with the Ancient Dragons. Furthermore, the people within the Capital had "evolved."

The incantation "Golden Lightning Fortification" had been researched. The Draconic Tree Sentinels had been born. The Ancient Dragon Cult of the Capital was beginning to take root, and Godwyn had developed golden lightning to strike down his foes.

That terrifying golden lightning could pierce the hardened scales of the Ancient Dragons, stripping them of their greatest advantage against the Golden Order's armies.

After that, the intensity of the war between the Ancient Dragons and the Golden Order escalated once more.

Mohg kept all these events in mind. He knew very well that this was not a signal for a final showdown. Quite the opposite: it was a sign that the two sides were about to turn from foes to friends and enter a deeper level of cooperation.

The existence of golden lightning and the Draconic Tree Sentinels, combined with the might shown by the Ancient Dragons recently, had formed the foundation for the co-existence of the Ancient Dragon Cult and the Erdtree Faith.

All they needed was a single opportunity, and the War of the Ancient Dragons—born against the backdrop of the War against the Giants—would come to an end. And that meant the Liurnian Wars were not far off.
