Chapter 62: The Grandmother's Decree – Day Five

The dawn of Day Five arrived with a transformation that was no longer subtle. As the sun crested the horizon, the Resonance of the Straw Hat Spirit reached its penultimate stage. The very air of the island felt thick, not with humidity, but with an ambient, golden energy that made the skin tingle.

In the Research Tower, Rimon stood before the master seal of the Vortex Engine. The system interface flickered with a green light.

Rimon adjusted his collar, his eyes cold. He had already sent a private, encoded message through a secret Uzumaki channel—a channel that bypassed the Hokage's office and went directly to the Shikkotsu Woods.

It was a message for Mito Uzumaki.

The Heart of the Leaf: Konoha's Reaction

In the hidden depths of the Senju Estate within Konoha, the air was stale and heavy. The legendary Mito Uzumaki, the widow of the First Hokage, sat in a wheelchair, her eyes closed. Despite her age, the presence of the Nine-Tails within her made her a living sensor.

A secret messenger—a member of the Uzumaki clan who had served as her personal attendant for decades—approached silently and knelt.

"My Lady," he whispered. "A message from the Whirlpool. From the new Patriarch, Rimon."

Mito opened her eyes. They were sharp, piercing through the fog of age. She took the scroll, reading the contents. Her hand tightened on the paper.

Nawaki is alive. The Wood Style has stabilized. Uzushio has risen from the ashes, and the people are no longer orphans of the Mist.

But it was the post-script that made her heart hammer: Konoha left us to die. They treat Nawaki as a chess piece, not a grandson. Do not let the shadows of the Leaf consume the last of our blood.

Minutes later, a sharp knock sounded at her door. The doors slid open to reveal Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage. He looked weary, holding the report that Ensho Nara had sent back via a high-speed messenger hawk.

"Mito-sama," Hiruzen began, bowing deeply. "I assume you have heard the... startling news. Ensho reports that Uzushio is not only standing, but they are holding Nawaki and several Leaf assets. Rimon Uzumaki has declared independence. I've summoned the Council. Danzo is already calling for a forced 'recovery' mission."

Mito looked at Hiruzen. She saw the student she had once taught, but she also saw the politician he had become.

"Hiruzen," Mito said, her voice like cracking ice. "You will cancel the council. And you will tell Danzo to keep his roots in the soil where they belong."

Hiruzen blinked, surprised. "But the stability of the alliance—"

"The alliance was broken when the first Mist boat landed on Uzushio's shores and your reinforcements 'missed' the tide," Mito cut him off. "Nawaki will stay in Uzushiogakure for three more days. He will witness the seventh day of the sun. This is not a request, Hiruzen. It is an order from the matriarch of the Senju and the Uzumaki."

Hiruzen looked at the floor, the weight of the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki pressing down on the room. "As you wish, Mito-sama. I will inform the elders that the stay is... strategic."

Day Five: The Seeds of Doubt

Back on the island, the atmosphere was industrious. Rimon walked through the streets, accompanied by Nawaki and the Nara Envoy.

Nawaki was in high spirits, showing Ensho the new training fields where Zoro was currently forcing a group of Uzumaki swordsmen to cut through solid Battle-Steel.

"Look, Ensho-jisan! Zoro-sensei says that if you can't feel the 'breath' of the metal, you're just swinging a stick!" Nawaki laughed, his boisterousness infectious.

But Rimon stopped at a high point overlooking the harbor. He looked at the Leaf ships anchored outside the whirlpools.

"You see those ships, Nawaki?" Rimon asked softly.

Nawaki blinked. "Yeah. They're here to help us, right?"

"They're here to 'escort' you," Rimon corrected. "Tell me, if Konoha cares so much for you, why did they send you to the Rain Front with barely any guard when you were only a Genin? Why did they wait until Uzushio was almost a memory before sending a single hawk?"

Ensho Nara stiffened. "Rimon-dono, that is a dangerous line of questioning."

"It's an honest one," Rimon replied, looking Nawaki in the eye. "Nawaki, the 'Will of Fire' is a beautiful thing. But fire needs fuel. And for years, the Leaf has used the Uzumaki as that fuel. They love the Senju grandson, but they fear the Senju King. Ask yourself... if you go back today, will they let you keep the Verdant Crown? Or will they 'study' it until it's gone?"

Nawaki looked at the jade seal on his chest. His smile faltered for a second. The seed of doubt, small and sharp, was planted. He still loved his home, but for the first time, he was seeing the strings attached to the puppet-master's hands.

The Dawn of Power

As the evening approached, Rimon led the group to the heart of the village. The Vortex Engine—a massive crystalline structure etched with thousands of fuinjutsu lines—began to hum.

"What is that?" Ensho asked, his strategic mind screaming in alarm.

"The future," Rimon said.

With a thought, he authorized the System to initiate the first phase of the power grid.

Suddenly, the dim streets of Uzushio were flooded with a clean, white light. The radio towers pulsed, and for the first time in history, a village was powered not by wood or oil, but by the raw, kinetic energy of the ocean itself.

Luffy cheered from the roof of the kitchen, Sanji began to cook under the brilliant new lights, and the refugees looked up in awe.

Nawaki stood in the center of the glow, his eyes wide. "Rimon-niisan... Konoha doesn't have anything like this."

"No," Rimon said, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder. "And they never will, as long as they prefer the shadows to the sun."

The Fifth Day was ending. The Leaf had been ordered to wait, the heir was doubting his masters, and the Sovereign was finally turning on the lights.

Day Five is complete. The tension in Konoha is rising, and the village is now powered and glowing.
