Chapter 37 - Episode 37 – Mine to Protect

🖤 Contract of Blood and Love 🖤

The underground chamber turned deathly silent.

No one moved.

No one breathed.

After Anaya Sen whispered the final code, even the air itself felt heavier.

Because now—

Everything revolved around her.

The chips.

The hidden data.

The empire.

The war.

All of it.

And standing between her and the entire world was only one man.

Aryan Malhotra.

His grip on Viktor Dragovich's collar slowly loosened.

But the danger in his eyes only grew colder.

Viktor adjusted his coat calmly.

Yet for the first time—

There was tension in his expression too.

He looked at Anaya carefully.

Almost calculating.

"Interesting," he murmured.

Anaya instinctively stepped closer to Aryan.

And Aryan noticed.

Of course he did.

Without even looking back—

His hand reached behind him slightly.

Finding hers.

Holding it.

Firm.

Protective.

That single gesture changed something inside her chest.

Because even surrounded by enemies…

Even in the middle of chaos…

She felt safest beside him.

Viktor's eyes narrowed slightly at their joined hands.

Then he smiled faintly.

"So this is what you've become, Malhotra."

Aryan's voice turned cold.

"Careful."

Viktor ignored the warning.

"You were never supposed to care about anyone."

Silence.

Then—

Aryan spoke quietly.

"She's different."

The words came out naturally.

Without thought.

Without control.

Anaya looked up at him instantly.

Her heartbeat quickened.

Even Viktor seemed amused.

"Different?" he repeated.

Aryan finally looked at him.

And there was no hesitation in his eyes anymore.

"No one touches her."

Every word landed like a threat.

Deadly.

Final.

Viktor sighed softly.

"And yet the entire world will."

His men slowly tightened their grip on their weapons.

The atmosphere sharpened instantly again.

Aryan pulled Anaya slightly behind him.

Protecting her without even thinking.

Viktor noticed everything.

Every glance.

Every movement.

Every feeling Aryan was trying not to show.

Then Viktor smiled again.

Dangerously.

"You love her."

The words echoed loudly inside the chamber.

Anaya froze.

Aryan's expression darkened instantly.

But he didn't deny it.

That silence itself became the answer.

Viktor chuckled softly.

"That's unfortunate."

Aryan's jaw tightened.

"Why?"

"Because love," Viktor said calmly,

"…makes men weak."

Before anyone could react—

One of Viktor's guards suddenly aimed at Anaya.

Everything happened too fast.

The trigger pulled—

BANG!

Anaya gasped softly.

But the bullet never reached her.

Because Aryan moved first.

He turned instantly—

Shielding her with his own body.

The bullet tore through his shoulder.

Blood splattered across the floor.

"Aryan!"

Anaya's voice cracked in panic.

The room exploded into chaos again.

Gunfire erupted everywhere.

Aryan ignored the pain completely.

Instead, he grabbed Anaya and pushed her behind a stone pillar.

"Stay down!" he ordered sharply.

Blood soaked through his shirt rapidly.

But he didn't care.

Didn't even look at the wound.

His focus stayed entirely on her.

Viktor shouted something to his men, but Aryan had already snapped.

Completely.

He moved like death itself.

Cold.

Brutal.

Unstoppable.

Within seconds, two guards were down.

Another rushed him—

Aryan disarmed him violently and slammed him against the wall.

Anaya watched everything with shaking hands.

Fear.

Shock.

And something deeper.

Because every second—

He was risking himself for her.

A bullet hit nearby stone.

Dust exploded into the air.

Aryan immediately crouched in front of her again.

Covering her body with his own.

Their faces inches apart.

His breathing rough now.

Blood running down his arm.

"Aryan, you're hurt—"

"I'm fine."

"You're bleeding!"

"I said I'm fine."

But his voice softened slightly when he looked at her terrified face.

His fingers briefly touched her cheek.

"Did it hit you?"

Anaya shook her head quickly.

"No…"

Only then did his shoulders loosen slightly.

As if nothing else mattered.

Not even his own injury.

Suddenly—

Anaya grabbed his hand tightly.

"Stop doing this."

Aryan frowned slightly.

"Doing what?"

"Protecting me like your life doesn't matter."

For a second—

Something unreadable crossed his face.

Then he leaned closer.

Close enough that only she could hear him.

"My life stopped mattering…"

His voice lowered further.

"…the moment yours was in danger."

Her breath caught completely.

The confession hit harder than any bullet.

Because deep down—

She already knew.

And so did he.

But before either of them could say another word—

A loud metallic sound echoed through the chamber.

Everyone froze.

Then slowly—

A hidden vault behind the wall began opening.

The final secret had been unlocked.

And whatever waited inside…

Was powerful enough to destroy them all.
