"Thank you for today," I muttered to Christian as we stood beside his car, neither of us wanting to leave.
"It's all thanks to you," he replied, a warm smile lighting up his face. "I mean, I was finally able to make my grandfather happy again, and it's because of you."
A soft chuckle escaped my lips as I looked up at him, only to find that he was already staring at me. "Owen almost ruined everything, by the way," I reminded him.
Christian sighed. "As if I knew that was going to happen. I already had everything planned out."
"That's so cool!" I said, genuinely excited. I was amazed by how quickly he had regained control of the situation.
Even though he hadn't told me directly, I had sensed it. His quick thinking made me grow even fonder of him. I knew I shouldn't be feeling this way, especially since I didn't truly know him or his real intentions toward me. Yet he had shown me that I could trust him—at least a little.
