Isabella paced back and forth in front of the large gates of the mansion. Usually, whenever her car was seen approaching, the gates would automatically open for her. But now, even when she reached them, they didn't open at all.
Worse, guards stood right across the gates, forming a large horizontal line like a second barrier.
"Why aren't you letting me in?" Isabella growled at them. "I want to see Ashley! Didn't you hear me?"
But none of them budged an inch.
Red, who was among the guards in the line, yawned and tugged at his earlobe. "There's nothing in this place that isn't making me yawn."
Then, his face twisted as he turned to the woman right outside the gates.
"Quit yapping already," he muttered, audible to those near him but not to Isabella. "Why is this woman even here?"
