Chapter 17 - Hana's First Orginal Idea - chapter 17

The morning light poured through the study windows, illuminating Hana's small frame as she perched on Seraphina's chair. The estate was calm—almost too calm—and her mind buzzed with ideas.

What are you thinking? Seraphina's voice in her mind was calm, almost amused.

Hana twirled a strand of black hair nervously. "…I was thinking… maybe we could… make something better for the staff? You know, like… morale stuff?"

Morale? Seraphina asked, raising an invisible eyebrow. You mean a non-strategic initiative?

Hana grinned. "…Not non-strategic! I mean… happier staff work better, right? And… if I do something fun for them, maybe they'll like me more… and maybe I can learn to lead better!"

Hm… acceptable. Seraphina's voice softened slightly. I will guide you lightly. But you must consider cost, efficiency, and potential unintended consequences.

Hana's eyes sparkled. "…Okay! Let's do it!"

She pulled a sheet of paper from Seraphina's desk and began drafting a "Staff Appreciation Festival." She listed ideas: small competitions, a picnic in the gardens, maybe a miniature obstacle course using training tools—something playful but safe.

Observe carefully, Seraphina reminded. Some ideas may be dangerous or impractical. Adjust accordingly.

Hana frowned at the obstacle course idea. Hmm… too many heavy swords lying around… She crossed it out, replacing it with a "relay race with mock swords" made from soft wood.

Good. Safety considered.

Next, Hana reviewed the kitchen budget for treats. Cookies, fruit, tea… yes, enough for everyone without straining resources. She scribbled her notes and made a plan to ask the head cook to prepare small portions for a staff picnic.

Efficient allocation of resources, Seraphina noted approvingly.

Then came the invitations. Hana drafted polite, cheerful notes for the staff, carefully balancing friendliness with authority:

"You are cordially invited to a Staff Appreciation Festival in the estate gardens tomorrow at midday. Attendance is encouraged but not mandatory. There will be games, treats, and prizes. Your contributions are valued."

Hana read the note aloud. "…It sounds… nice, I think."

It is adequate. Professional yet warm. Well done.

Hana set about organizing logistics: ensuring tables were placed safely, arranging the flowers in the gardens for decoration, and assigning minor roles to junior staff to help with coordination.

Observe workflow. Seraphina reminded. You want smooth operations, not chaos.

Hana's small hands fluttered across the estate plan, checking paths for safety, noting shaded spots for staff to rest, and making sure there were no hazards near the water fountain. Every adjustment she made was deliberate, though she admitted to herself it was partly instinct and partly just her chaotic fujoshi brain thinking creatively.

By midday, the preparations were complete. Hana stood at the edge of the gardens, surveying the scene. Tables were neatly arranged, colorful flowers lined the pathways, and a soft breeze carried the scent of fresh pastry from the kitchen. The staff began trickling in, curious but clearly pleased.

"…Wow… they actually look happy," Hana whispered. Her small chest swelled with pride.

Indeed, Seraphina's voice said softly.

You anticipated needs, allocated resources, and executed a plan independently. You considered consequences. This is growth.

A young page ran up, eyes sparkling.

"My Lady! Everything is ready! And… we love the games you set up!"

Hana blinked. They… like it? She laughed softly. "…I'm glad. Let's… start, then?"

The festival began, small but lively. Staff raced along the soft-wood relay course, laughed at playful competitions, and enjoyed pastries and tea. Hana moved among them, observing, cheering, and occasionally offering playful encouragement.

Every smile, every cheer, made her heart warm.

Observe effects, Seraphina reminded. Morale is elevated. Efficiency may increase if happiness continues.

Hana's grin widened as she noticed minor things improving naturally: staff worked together more smoothly, small mistakes were corrected with laughter rather than frustration, and even Kale gave her a subtle nod of approval as he observed from a distance.

"…I did this," Hana whispered, almost in awe. "And… it worked!"

Yes. Seraphina's voice was calm, approving, almost proud.

You planned, executed, and improved the estate proactively. This is your first original initiative—well done.

Hana's cheeks flushed. "…I think… I can really do this… if I keep trying."

Careful. Seraphina warned softly. You must balance creativity with prudence. But yes… your growth is evident.

Hana laughed softly as a staff member handed her a small pastry. "Thanks, My Lady! This is amazing!"

Hana took it, smiling widely. "…You're welcome! I… really mean it."

For the first time, she felt something she had never experienced in Seraphina's body: the satisfaction of shaping her world with her own ideas—chaotic, bright, and imperfect, yet effective.

And in her mind, Seraphina's calm, guiding presence reminded her: no matter how unconventional her methods, Hana could make a difference—and maybe even enjoy it while doing so.
