Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: Alphas Mobilize

"Hmm." William agreed deeply.

He had no choice but to agree.

It was like in the novels of his original World, where divinity and supreme divinity also existed.

Such as ***-343, God.

Or ***-2317, A Door to Another World.

And so on.

William would rather believe the theory Carlos proposed than believe that behind the tomb of Achilles lay the Underworld.

If that were truly the case, the containment operation they were facing would be Exafanistei-class.

However, judging by the rewards given by the system, William surmised...

...it shouldn't be Exafanistei; the highest probability was still Euclid or Keter.

Just that mutant lion, along with two other unknown anomalous phenomena.

William looked at Carlos again and asked: "Mr. President, based on the content just shown in the video, can you help me analyze and guess the information regarding the remaining two 'Tomb Guardians'?"

"I was just about to tell you that."

Carlos manipulated the computer, scrolled through the images, and stopped at the moment the two Agents encountered the giant lion. Narrowing his eyes slightly, he said: "Mr. Russell, doesn't the giant lion we saw look a lot like the one from Heracles' Twelve Labors... the Nemean Lion."

"Nemean?" William frowned slightly, seemingly recalling those legends.

"Yes," Carlos continued: "The giant lion's fur is impervious to blades and guns; there is also a claim that mortal weapons cannot harm it in the slightest. But the immensely strong Heracles managed to strangle it to death."

"Does that mean it still falls under the category of a biological entity?" William picked up the conversation: "I will have the UBCS equipped with sufficient dosages of anesthetic gas and specialized hunting nets. What about the remaining two?"

"Hmm..." Carlos mused for a few seconds, then shook his head: "The murals and texts do not record them. I can only estimate that they are monsters from the Twelve Labors. Creatures like the Cretan Bull or the Erymanthian Boar are possibilities. I'm sorry, this is the best I can do."

"It's alright." William waved his hand to show respect: "Without you, Mr. President, I wouldn't have understood the specific situation of the ruins."

"Boss." Hank suddenly reminded him: "We have arrived."

"Alright, Mr. President, come with us."

"Heh, alright."

——

Location: Outskirts of Athens.

The original Greece military Base, now requisitioned by Umbrella.

Local time: 14:14.

William and Carlos, under the protection of Hank and the other Alphas, arrived at the Base's Command Center.

Colonel Andre and the officers of the UBCS Omega company had arrived there around 13:00 and were arranging the battle plan together.

The Omega company consisted of members of the Olympus Board of Directors, Colonel Andre's Personal Guards, and was also the first company to be fully equipped with AAES mechanical skeletons.

Subsequently, the Omega company received the data from William and Carlos.

The entire company switched magazines to 7al-caliber armor-piercing rounds.

Each person was equipped with five anesthetic gas grenades.

The Machine Gunner of each squad was equipped with a hunting net launcher specially made by Dr. Halsey on their shoulder armor.

Since Greece had become the property of Umbrella, the existence of the AAES would not be kept hidden from Carlos Papoulias.

However, President Papoulias and a few senior Greece military officers, as well as all Soldiers participating in this incident, still needed to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Local time: 14:45.

The Omega company was ready.

Four platoons and twenty squads of UBCS were boarding the V-22 Osprey transport aircraft one after another.

Inside a hangar somewhere at the military Base;

Outside the hangar, a large number of Alphas were on guard to prevent anyone from entering, intentionally or unintentionally.

Inside, quite a few Umbrella Technicians were debugging five sets of bio-armor that had been set up.

Hank and four other most elite Alphas, wearing specialized tight-fitting suits, stood in front of each set of armor.

William stood with his hands behind his back, his face stern in front of the five Alphas. After a long silence, he looked at Hank and said helplessly: "Why are you guys meddling in this? With the Omega company equipped with AAES, it's enough to deal with those abnormally huge animals. Every day, none of you let me rest easy."

"Boss." Hank puffed out his chest and said, still expressionless: "Protecting your safety is our primary goal. But Dr. Halsey once asked us Alphas to test the bio-armor data to help perfect the spartan project. Besides..."

Hank glanced left and right at his comrades beside him.

Immediately after, the five Alphas said in unison, loudly: "We Alphas need to execute missions to suppress those increasingly arrogant UBCS!"

Seeing this, William couldn't help but cover his face with his left hand, put his right hand on his hip, shake his head, and say with a smile: "You bunch of lunatics, what am I supposed to say? Sigh."

The UBCS and USS had long looked at each other with 'displeasure'.

It wasn't real hostility, but rather a sense of rivalry.

All USS operations were opaque.

Yet, the threshold for joining the USS was extremely high, especially for the Alphas led by Hank.

William's attitude toward the Alphas was one of 'utmost care' and 'all kinds of pampering'; he would equip the Alphas with the best gear first thing.

This... caused envy and jealousy among the rest of the USS and UBCS.

As for the Alphas, they had been protecting William personally since their inception and had never executed any real combat.

It was inevitable that there would be some gossip.

Regarding this, William could only say that the Soldiers were foolishly cute.

If the Alphas had really seen real combat, wouldn't that mean he, William, had been attacked?

Not having any was the best outcome, right?

"Fine." William calmed his mood, changed to a serious expression, and urged: "You guys remember this: if you confirm there's an anomalous phenomenon that cannot be contained, retreat immediately. Run, you hear me? The residents on the island have all been cleared out; if it really comes to it, we can drop a hydrogen bomb."

"Yes!" (x5)

"Hmm." William nodded and waved his hand at the Technicians on the side: "Get ready to help the Alphas suit up."

"Yes, Boss."

Under the control of the Technicians, the front of the five suits of armor unfolded plate by plate from top to bottom, allowing the Alphas to extend their arms and legs to enter.

Next, the five Alphas, led by Hank, entered the armor one by one.

The armor closed rapidly.

At the same time, the Technicians' reports resonated throughout the empty hangar.

"Suiting up complete, preparing to start the power."

"Start-up complete, preparing to inject t-serum. Lieutenant, are you ready?"

"Yes." (x5)

"Injection starting."

"Ugh...!" (The painful groan of an Alpha.)

"Serum continuous injection procedure is normal, the Alpha's physical state is good."

"Huu..." (The relieved gasp of an Alpha.)
