Only then did Roy show a bit of interest. Just as he stepped forward, planning to take the card for himself, a group of people suddenly came filing out of the dense forest one after another, around eight or nine of them in total.
"Yo! It took a lot of work to lure that stupid dragon out of the mysterious forest. Just now my hand slipped when I was about to throw the calming agent. I even thought I might've grabbed the wrong medicine and thrown a frenzy agent at the idiot instead. But seeing it turn into a card now, I guess I didn't use the wrong one after all."
Among the group, a bald, heavily muscled man with a bow on his back wiped the sweat off his head. He looked like a seasoned player, probably in the middle of some kind of quest.
"It looked like some kind of explosion happened here just now. I saw something falling out of the sky earlier and thought a meteor had landed around here. Scared the hell out of me!"
The man chatted with his companions like that, and the whole group treated Roy like he was air, laughing and talking as they walked right up to pick up the card the lizard-dragon had turned into.
Roy had noticed their auras long ago, but he hadn't even been interested in dealing with them. Who would've thought these idiots would be this shameless? Not only did they come over on their own, they even planned to take the card.
Lured out of the mysterious forest? Frenzy agent? Calming agent? Grabbed the wrong one?
Heh.
No wonder such a strange lizard-dragon had suddenly appeared in the forest.
Roy took a deep breath. He finally understood the true side effect of the Risky Dice. It wasn't just bad luck. It was one disgusting, irritating problem after another.
"I'll say this much. That dragon's eyes were bloodshot just now. What you threw really was a frenzy agent."
Roy spoke in a low voice. One problem after another had already started to irritate him. He only hoped these people had the sense to back off...
"Pffhahaha! Where the hell did this brat crawl out from? I was playing games before you were even out of diapers!"
When the bald brute heard Roy speak, he first gave him a wary look. Then he looked at the giant dragon card on the ground marked with an SS rank, thought of the strength that dragon had shown earlier when it had all of them running around in panic, and immediately looked at Roy with contempt before bursting into loud laughter.
What a joke.
That dragon had already been strong before they threw the drug. If what they'd really thrown was a frenzy-type agent, then wouldn't its strength have doubled?
And from the time the dragon left the bald brute's sight to the moment it turned into a card right in front of them, not even a full three minutes had passed.
According to hints they had gotten from a certain NPC, that stupid dragon's only weakness was the calming agent. So for the dragon to become a card in less than three minutes, there were only two possibilities.
Either the young man in front of them, who didn't even look twenty, had defeated the dragon in that absurdly short amount of time.
Or they had thrown the calming agent at the dragon, and that calming agent just happened to be the key to turning it into a card.
Between those two options, even an idiot would pick the second one.
That was why the bald brute and the others were mocking Roy so brazenly.
Roy simply looked far too easy to underestimate.
He had only a single sword on his back. His well-proportioned build stood in stark contrast to the bald man's body packed with explosive muscle.
And Roy didn't have much killing intent on him.
That was right. To be honest, ever since Roy had taken the Hunter Exam up to now, he really hadn't killed a single person.
Beasts were another matter, of course.
Even in Yorknew City, all the killing had been done by Ilo, whether it was wiping out the mafia, killing the Ten Dons, the Shadow Beasts, or even the Phantom Troupe.
Of course, that wasn't because Roy was one of those "won't kill" types like Zephyr.
It was simply because he had never run into the right opponents or the right circumstances to make a move personally.
After all, if his subordinates could solve the problem, why would the boss need to do everything himself?
But now, on Greed Island, the only halfway usable subordinate Roy had on hand was the pudgy second brother, Milluki.
So in a situation like this, he could only do it himself.
"Oh! Lucky! It's card number 001, the SS-rank card with a conversion limit of only two copies, [Patch of Forest]! Legend says it's the entrance to the enormous forest known as the 'Mountain God's Garden,' where many kinds of creatures that live nowhere else in the world reside. Every animal there is close to humans."
"So that stupid dragon was the guardian beast at the entrance to the forest! As long as you beat it, you get this card, huh? Hehehe, so the trick to this quest was the calming agent. Who knew it would be this easy?"
After glancing at Roy, the bald brute's companions also showed a trace of contempt before excitedly starting to discuss it among themselves.
Easy?
Roy raised a brow.
That dragon had obviously been in a berserk state. This was already an SS-rank card to begin with, something extremely difficult to obtain, and its card conversion limit was only two. That was even rarer than Angel's Breath.
And on top of that, the stupid dragon had been in a frenzied state.
Sure, Roy had beaten it flat with just a few punches, but Roy currently had enough power to blow up a planet. Sweeping across the Six Continents wouldn't be a problem for him at all.
That alone showed the dragon had actually been quite powerful.
In Roy's view, if you excluded a Game Master like Razor and took the Bomber, Genthru, as the standard for top combat power on Greed Island, then even if Genthru's three-man group fought this dragon head-on, they definitely wouldn't win.
Most likely, it was like [Plot of Beach]. You had to clear some special challenge and use specific items to subdue it, not defeat it in a straightforward battle.
But no matter what, Roy was the one who had taken down that dragon.
And whether these people could take this card away still depended on whether he allowed it.
"Not even out of diapers?" Roy said expressionlessly, crossing his arms.
"I'll give you one last friendly warning. I'm the one who took down that stupid dragon, so this card is mine. And the things you just said were clearly insulting. If you apologize and leave now, I won't hold your earlier rudeness against you."
"Heh! I thought we'd run into some newbie, but who knew it'd be some little punk who doesn't know his place!" the bald brute sneered. Then his face gradually darkened, and a dangerous light surfaced in his eyes.
