After getting used to this power, Roy returned to Old Silver Mountain City.
He spent three days drawing out, from memory, the complete runs of several extremely famous manga. After storing them away properly, he went back to the magazine company, had a talk with old Luke, and checked on the sales of the other manga under his name. After that, he did not ask any more questions.
With old Luke handling those manga, Roy felt completely at ease.
Over the past two years, because of Roy's manga, Shonen Magazine had leapt straight into the top tier of the industry.
Old Silver Mountain City had also seized this opportunity to vigorously develop tourism. It signed a whole series of cooperative agreements with old Luke and developed attractions such as the Dragon Ball Training Zone, the Sailor Moon Expo, and the Gundam Secret Base, causing a nonstop stream of tourists to come and go.
Old Silver Mountain City had also risen along with it, becoming one of the continent's most flourishing and prosperous cities.
Disguised as an ordinary person through Puar's shapeshifting, Roy walked through the center of Old Silver Mountain City and could clearly feel the vigorous vitality of the entire city's booming growth.
Especially when he saw the golden statue of himself erected in the very center, he could not help but laugh.
Since there was nothing left for him to worry about on Old Silver Mountain City's side, Roy planned to head to the Hunter Association and settle his star evaluation.
As always, he was just going to leave by using Instant Transmission.
It had to be said, Instant Transmission really was an incredibly useful skill.
Of course, before using Instant Transmission, Roy still politely gave Netero-kaichou a phone call first.
"Hello, is this Netero-kaichou?"
Slurp, slurp... "That voice is... Roy?" A strange sound came from the other end of the line, but from the tone, it was still clearly Netero's voice.
"Mm, it's me. I was wondering whether Kaichou is busy right now. I want to talk with you about a new Hunter career direction, as well as my star evaluation."
Slurp, slurp... "A new Hunter career direction? Hohoho, interesting. All right, come over now. Where are you right now?"
"I'm still in Old Silver Mountain City, but it won't take long for me to get there."
Gulp, gulp... "Very fast, hm? Right, I almost forgot you can fly too. Fine then, I don't have much going on this afternoon, so come find me. It just so happens that I also have a few things I want to talk to you about."
"All right, then I'll come over now."
After hanging up the phone, Roy used Instant Transmission.
When he appeared again, he was already inside the Hunter Association Chairman's office.
"Long time no see, Netero-kaichou." Roy greeted Netero, who was sitting barefoot behind his desk with a bowl in front of him.
Several noodles were still hanging from Netero's mouth, and his eyes widened slightly as he stared at Roy for a few seconds.
For a moment, the entire scene became extremely quiet.
Then Netero calmly withdrew his gaze, picked up the bowl, and noisily gulped down both the noodles and the soup together.
With a thump, Netero put the bowl on the floor, roughly wiped the corner of his mouth, and stared at Roy.
"You appeared in my office in an instant. What you used was Instant Transmission, wasn't it?"
"Oh? I didn't expect Netero-kaichou to read Dragon Ball too. Do you want me to send you three more collector's edition sets?" Roy said with a smile.
His Nen ability was not some absolute secret that he had to guard to the death. Even if Netero knew about it, so what?
"No need. I already have collector's editions in my office. But putting that aside, your Nen ability really is quite frightening. To think you can obtain things from the manga you draw... truly astonishing." Netero said the word "astonishing," but there was not the slightest change in his expression.
"This ability is extremely demanding too. I only get something when the manga reaches the level of influence that Dragon Ball has. Otherwise, look at Sailor Moon, Gundam, and Fist of the North Star—I never got a single item from any of them."
Roy spread his hands, using a helpless tone as he fed Netero a half-true, half-false explanation.
"Then you said you wanted to discuss a new Hunter career direction. What direction?"
"Manga Hunter or Story Hunter." Roy stated it directly.
Netero understood in an instant. Then he looked at Roy with a strange expression.
Could this brat be any more shameless? He was clearly planning to use the influence of Dragon Ball from before to advance himself into a One-Star Hunter. Netero had truly never seen anyone freeload off old achievements this brazenly.
Roy remained completely unmoved by Netero's gaze. Instead, he put on a solemn expression, as if he were doing all this purely for the good of the Association.
"At the current stage, the profession of Manga Hunter isn't very likely. Story Hunter, on the other hand, would be possible. It would pass as long as it was casually brought up at the Committee... however..."
Netero stroked his beard and said with a grin, "However, I think the idea of Story Hunter still isn't mature enough yet. It needs a great deal more investigation."
"Just say it. What do you want?" Roy crossed his arms and went straight to the point.
"I'm already a worn-out old man. What could I possibly want? I merely wish to watch the growth of the younger generation in my spare time and offer them a little guidance."
"Oh?" Roy smiled without smiling. "So Kaichou wants to give me some guidance, does he? I wonder what kind of guidance you have in mind?"
"Sure. I also want to see what kind of martial art technique Kaichou has newly created. Let's go to the Association's dedicated sparring arena."
"No, let's find a deserted place instead. You have Instant Transmission, don't you? I forgot the exact details of how it works, but I assume you can teleport to somewhere uninhabited. Bring me along too. I just happen to want to experience what Instant Transmission feels like. Hohoho!"
...
Later, according to some witnesses, a series of explosions occurred in a canyon far away from the Hunter Association, as though a new ruin had appeared.
As a result, many Ruins Hunters hurried to the site of the explosions, but aside from seeing a landscape full of craters and pits, they found nothing at all, and the matter eventually ended there.
Back at the Hunter Association, Roy looked at the half of Netero's beard that had once again been blasted away, and his lips kept twitching. Netero's current appearance was simply too comical. Roy really wanted to laugh.
Netero accepted a teacup from the helpless Beans-san at his side and calmly took a sip.
