[Item: Senzu Bean (Consumption immediately restores all physical stamina, mental energy, and heals internal and external injuries, but cannot cure diseases.)]
"This stuff is even more useful than hand sanitizer," Rhodes' eyes sparkled.
As far as he knew, there was a pure-blood devil family in the Underworld called the Phoenix family. They became the wealthiest tycoons in the Underworld by selling "Tears of the Phoenix," which could heal any injury. A single drop of Phoenix Tears could fetch an astronomical price. They were treasures that money couldn't always buy; they sold out the moment they hit the market, and many were reserved in advance by other pure-blood families. Ordinary devils had no way to get them.
In contrast, a Senzu Bean not only healed wounds but also instantly replenished stamina. It was the ultimate support item in the Dragon Ball world. The main cast used them to defeat many enemies, but because the ability was too game-breaking, the anime eventually came up with a reason about reduced production so the heroes couldn't rely on them.
On second thought, the existence of this thing was indeed unbalanced. As long as you had enough Senzu Beans, it was like everyone else was playing on Normal Mode while you were playing Infinite Mana with Auto-Heal.
Popping a Senzu Bean into his mouth to keep in his cheek for emergencies, Rhodes glanced at the system map. He suddenly noticed something marked at the lowest level of the Okunoin mansion.
Rhodes' heart burned with excitement. Generally, anything marked on the system map was either a mission objective or a valuable lootable item. Although this was the heart of the Five Principal Clans—who were technically a neutral faction—Rhodes, as a transmigrator, didn't have such a high moral standard. Unless absolutely necessary, finders keepers was the rule of the game.
Besides, when a transmigrator takes something, can you really call it "stealing"? It's just that the Auto-Loot function wasn't turned off!
To his surprise, the guards around the marked item were quite weak. Perhaps out of confidence that no one could breach the five layers of the barrier, Rhodes was able to reach the marked location smoothly after knocking out two exorcists.
It was a place resembling an altar. The walls and floor were inscribed with formations in cinnabar that Rhodes couldn't understand, and many yellow paper talismans were plastered around.
Upon entering the altar room, Rhodes felt a wave of coldness wrap around him. The source of the chill was three wooden boxes placed in the center of the altar. Made of redwood, they looked ancient, and the talismans and formations had aged significantly. As he approached, Rhodes seemed to hear a sort of whispering in his ears, powerful enough to disturb one's sanity.
However, Rhodes was strong enough to remain unaffected. If an ordinary person or a novice exorcist stayed here for long, their mind would inevitably be compromised, and their consciousness might even be dominated by these whispers.
Anything placed here was either a rare item or something sealed. Big families loved doing this sort of thing. But to Rhodes, knowing it was a "treasure" was enough.
He peeled off a talisman and opened one of the wooden boxes. A hideous, terrifying head stared back at him.
"Holy crap... you're telling me this is a treasure?" Rhodes almost threw the box in his hand.
At first glance, it was purely a monster's head. Its eyes were tightly shut, its skin was crimson, and its red hair hung over its head like frozen flames. Rhodes didn't know what it was, but the system helpfully provided an introduction.
[Head of the Yokai King, Shuten-doji] [Status: Sealed]
"Shuten-doji? Isn't that one of the most famous Yokai in this country?" Rhodes was surprised.
He didn't dwell on it; since Ura and Inugami Gyobu had appeared, Shuten-doji showing up wasn't that shocking. Although he didn't know why the Five Principal Clans hadn't destroyed these great Yokai but chose to seal them here instead, Rhodes didn't hesitate. He directly activated the Auto-Loot function and swept everything on the altar into his storage space.
Seeing there was nothing left to pick up, he prepared to leave before he could be cornered. However, just as Rhodes was about to move, he noticed a red dot on the system map rapidly approaching. By the time he reacted, the red dot had already appeared above the altar room.
"Caught up so fast?" Rhodes was a bit surprised. The speed at which the exorcists were returning to defend was truly impressive.
He tried the teleportation anchor on the map, only to be met with a prompt stating that the teleportation function was currently unavailable.
Forced combat?
Unless it was for a mission, Rhodes rarely sought conflict. However, he didn't let hotheadedness take over; instead, he continued to maintain his Presence Concealment state. The altar room was quite large with plenty of hiding spots. Rhodes found a place near the door to hide, intending to act when the person entered. Or, he could slip away while they were distracted. After all, wearing his Superman's Glasses, no one would recognize him.
Rhodes had absolutely no psychological burden when it came to ambushing strangers.
Soon, accompanied by a strong wind that blew the ajar door open, an aura that made the skin crawl with a chilling sensation flooded the entrance. This aura clearly did not belong to an exorcist. Then, with heavy footsteps, a lean man emerged from the shadows. He wore a black coat with a high collar and had a classic Western aquiline nose.
He was tall, about two meters. Long brown hair fell over his shoulders, and his silver eyes glowed with an eerie light in the dim environment. He looked remarkably like Sephiroth.
Rhodes recognized him at a glance—this guy was a Fallen Angel. Having dealt with Fallen Angels a few times, he was very familiar with their aura. Although they also possessed the power of Light, they were the exact opposite of the Angels of Heaven.
If Rhodes guessed correctly, this Fallen Angel was the leader of the Abyss Walkers and the traitorous leader from the Grigori. Facing a Fallen Angel leader didn't affect Rhodes at all; any sense of pressure was non-existent. It was as if the system had given him a built-in immunity after he transmigrated.
As the Fallen Angel drew closer, he would likely notice the traces of someone having been there within a few steps. But just as Rhodes was about to strike, he noticed another red dot on the system map flying toward them at high speed.
The Fallen Angel also seemed to notice the approach of the newcomer and frowned slightly, looking back toward the entrance. Like Rhodes, it was clearly too late for him to leave now.
However, the Fallen Angel did not choose to hide. His aura was exceptionally powerful, and without a skill like Rhodes' to mask it, standing there was as conspicuous as a searchlight at midnight.
When Himejima Suzaku arrived at the main hall of the Okunoin and saw the guards slumped over and unconscious, her brow furrowed and her expression darkened immediately. Continuing deeper, she found that the seal on the basement altar had indeed been violently broken, making her expression even grimmer.
Upon entering the altar room, she immediately noticed the only man in the room with silver eyes.
