"I do! I do! It's not as convenient as you said, but isn't that just a type of curse? I can place a special spell on them that requires a regular 'antidote' to suppress. Otherwise, they'll itch all over and eventually die, meow!" Kuroka said with big, innocent eyes, saying something that made Asia look horrified.
"Perfect. You're up, then," Rhode said, satisfied.
He brought the three Fallen Angels out of the church.
"Three Fallen Angels? Are they from the Grigori group?" Lavinia's expression became serious. The aura of a High-rank magician descended upon the three.
Raynare, Mittelt, and Kalawarner began to shiver. Who are these people?! The aura coming from this woman is on par with a Fallen Angel cadre! What kind of luck do we have to run into opponents of this level?!
Mittelt and Kalawarner cursed Raynare in their hearts hundreds of times. You said the plan was flawless! You said there was no danger! The local Devils hadn't bothered them, but a far more terrifying group had. How were they supposed to fight back?
Suddenly, Raynare noticed the blonde girl standing behind Rhode. Unlike the others who looked like powerhouses, this girl's aura was very weak.
"You're... the Holy Maiden, Asia Argento?" Memory flooded back. Raynare looked at her in shock.
"Eh? You... you know me?" Asia asked timidly. As a devout nun, even though Raynare was a Fallen Angel, Asia remained polite.
"Of course I know you. Your Sacred Gear is a rarity, I—" Raynare cut herself off. It finally clicked. Her plan had been predicted from the very first step, and they had followed the trail straight to Kuoh Town!
Raynare felt a bitter taste in her mouth. What kind of people are these? To protect a single excommunicated nun, they sent out people this strong? Does the Church have nothing better to do?! She only dared to grumble in her head. Her life was in their hands. Compared to rising in status, she definitely preferred staying alive.
"Go ahead, Kuroka," Rhode said.
Kuroka released a peculiar mist from her hand. It quickly flowed into the bodies of the three Fallen Angels. Although it didn't feel like anything at first, Rhode saw the confusion and curiosity on their faces. Then Kuroka briefly explained the effects of her curse. When they heard they needed aregular "antidote," their hearts sank. Great. No escape now.
Leaving the abandoned church, Rhode drove toward the residential area of Kuoh Town. Having visited once before, he had actually purchased a property here years ago just in case he ever returned. Today, it finally came in handy.
He took the key from his storage and opened the door, only to be met by a face-full of choking dust. Rhode turned to the trembling trio of Fallen Angels.
"Your first task is to have this place spotless by sunset. There are cleaning supplies in the storage room. Figure it out."
"Lavinia, Asia, let's head into town. We'll be living here for a while."
The girls had no objections. After the car pulled away, Raynare stamped her foot in rage. "Hateful human! How dare he use me like this!" As a Fallen Angel, she had never cleaned anything in her life. In her eyes, that was servant work.
"Well, do you have a better idea?" Mittelt asked, already switching back into her Gothic Lolita maid outfit. "Besides, staying here isn't so bad. If we go back now, we'll definitely be punished. This human isn't killing us, so why not stay and see what he's up to?"
"Plus," Mittelt added, "the human is actually pretty handsome. More handsome than those cadres in Grigori."
"Mittelt, you..." Raynare started, but then stopped. She couldn't actually argue with that.
Kalawarner, meanwhile, had already picked up a bucket and a mop. Looking like a focused woman of action, she silently began mopping the dusty floor.
"What's with her?" Raynare asked.
"I think she was traumatized," Mittelt whispered. "But don't be fooled by her serious act; she's a total 'closet pervert.' I think she's developed Stockholm Syndrome!"
"What's that? Can Fallen Angels get sick?" Raynare was skeptical.
"It's a mental thing, not a physical sickness. I don't really get it either, but that's probably what's going on!" Mittelt picked up a rag. "Let's get to work, or the Master will punish us when he gets back."
"You guys really are..." Raynare's mood was complex. But she touched the wound on her neck and silently joined the cleaning crew.
While the Fallen Angel trio was huffing and puffing through chores, Rhode brought the girls to the bustling downtown area.
"Go buy whatever you need. Use your phones to reach me if anything happens. I'm going to look around," Rhode said.
The trio and the cat split up. Rhode wandered aimlessly through the streets. Kuoh Town was like any other Japanese town, just a bit quieter. After a lap around the area, he lazily found a bench and started scrolling through his phone.
Now this is comfortable, he thought.
The reason he was so relaxed was simple. The bodies at the church would soon be noticed by Rias and her group. Fallen Angels appearing in their territory was a big deal; even if Rias were a complete airhead, she couldn't ignore it. The only reason they hadn't moved yet was likely because they were investigating if it would spark a war between the Three Factions.
Within a day, Rias would definitely find the church. A quick investigation would lead them straight to his house. So, Rhode just had to wait for them to come to him.
"Excuse me! Could you please take a look at this? Thank you!"
As he was scrolling, a clear, energetic voice rang out.Appearing before Rhode was a young woman dressed in a maid outfit, her back adorned with decorative little demon wings. She was currently holding out a flyer, which she pressed into Rhode's hand.
