Griffin helped Leandra sit up, keeping a firm grip around her shoulders, ready to restrain her if deemed necessary. As Leandra looked around at their surroundings, she was surprised at the wolf that was sitting in front of her.
"Hello, little guy. Who's this?"
Nathan chuffed, feeling mildly insulted at being called "little."
Griffin gave Leandra an odd look, "Mom, do you not remember what happened?"
Leandra looked up at her first born, confusion easy to see in her eyes. "No, Griffin, I don't. How long have I been here?"
"Just a few hours. You got here this morning," Griffin told her. "What's the last thing you remember?"
A growl emanated from Leandra's chest as her dragon half, Sophia, answered for her. "Those fucking vampires. I was invited to the temple by Draken Mortenson. He claimed he wanted me as a dragon representative on the committee that was organizing the Moon Lily Festival. That last thing I can remember is waiting in a chamber at the temple."
Griffin took a moment to process what Sophia said while trying to remember what the sigil he'd seen was used for. Suddenly, it hit him.
"Mom, Sophia, you were marked with a mind meld sigil. Anything you saw, the one who put the sigil on you could see too," Griffin said, his tan face draining of color.
Leandra had already taken over again as she responded, "Why would they care what I see and do though?"
"I'm not sure why they chose you, but…" Griffin glanced over at Nathan, "they just learned something they shouldn't've."
"What? What are you talking about?"
Griffin shot to his feet, already rushing into the cabin, "Nathan, pack anything of importance! We need to move! Now!"
Leandra couldn't understand what was happening as the wolf that'd been sitting nearby raced into the cabin as well, when she heard a new voice coming from inside. "How fast can one of them get here?"
"I don't know," Griffin's reply came. "It takes a dragon about 2 days. We have at least that long to get out of here."
Leandra, wanting to know what was happening, quickly strode into the cabin where a frantic Griffin and a shirtless Nathan were rushing around the room grabbing anything and everything that could fit in the travel chests Griffin had moved into the main room.
"What's going on? Griffin? Who's this and where are you going?"
"Mom, meet Nathan," Griffin said, not looking up from where he was stacking their favorite books into a pile. "My mate and the last werewolf that you just accidentally told the vampires about."
The blood drained from Leandra's face as she watched Nathan as he moved back and forth between the main room and the bedroom, each time coming out with an armful of clothes.
Leandra gasped, her hand over her mouth as tears streamed down her face. "Oh, Goddess," she breathed. "What have I done?"
Nathan, having just thrown the last of their clothes into a chest, paused for a moment, wiping sweat off his brow. Grabbing a shirt, he shrugged into it as he crossed the room to stop in front of Leandra. "Hi, again. Sorry we had to meet like this." Nathan gave her a light smile, holding out his hand.
