Chapter 89 - What are You Talking About?

Nathan was enjoying the blush that spread across Felix's face every time he looked at Dray.

"Think he's going to confess?" He asked Axel.

Axel hummed as he pressed towards the front of Nathan's mind. [Not sure. Considering the fact that he didn't know bonds could be between the same gender, I'm going to have to say no.]

[On the contrary,] Kael butted in. [Now that he knows his feelings aren't "wrong" I think he just might do it.]

Nathan couldn't stop the quiet snort from escaping. When Griffin glanced at him, he just shook his head. Griffin watched him for a moment before turning back to the conversation that was going on between Felix and Dray.

Nathan watched the two friends some more, formulating his answer. "I think… Dray's going to be the one to confess," he concluded.

[Huh?!] Axel and Kael yelled at the same time.

[What makes you say that?] Axel questioned.

"The look in his eye. It reminds me of the way Griffin looks at me."

The two of them took their time, looking for what Nathan was seeing.

Slowly, Axel had to concede. [You… might be right. That is really similar to the look Griff gives you.]

"What are the three of you talking about?" Griffin's voice rang through the bond.

Nathan turned to him with a sly smile. "Nothing."

Griffin raised a brow at him. "Uh huh."

Nathan refused to break eye contact, fighting the grin that wanted to stretch wider.

Their moment was broken when Dray's voice cut through the brewing tension.

"Is everything okay?"

Griffin finally looked away, letting Nathan breathe a sigh of relief. "This conversation isn't over," he whispered. "Everything's fine, Dray. I think Nathan needs a nap though."

Nathan looked at him, feeling betrayed.

Dray glanced at Nathan, seeing the look he was giving Griffin and realized the two of them probably needed to talk. "Makes sense," he said gracefully, turning back to Griffin, "training was hard today. We'll leave you alone." He looked at Felix as he stood. "Come on, Felix, let's go for a walk. Nathan?" He paused, waiting for Nathan to look at him. "See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah," Nathan said weakly, suddenly looking uncomfortable.

Nathan watched them leave, a longing to follow them in his eyes. He stared at the door long after it closed.

[Good luck,] Axel said, fading into the background of Nathan's mind again.

"Traitor."

Griffin cleared his throat, pulling Nathan's attention back to him. "So," he began, "what were the three of you talking about?"

"I told you, we weren't talking about anything." Nathan wouldn't look at Griffin he was so embarrassed. He'd thought he was being sneaky while gossiping about his newest friends.

Suddenly, Griffin was crouching in front of where Nathan was sitting. Gently, he cupped the wolf's jaw, forcing him to look in the face.

"Are you sure you don't want to tell me? Am I not worthy of sharing the secret?" Griffin purposely made himself sound pitiful.

Nathan gulped as he wrestled with himself. Does he tell him or not?
