Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Morning in the Safehouse

The morning sunlight filtered softly through the large windows of the safehouse.

Jay slowly stirred awake, feeling the warmth of Keifer pressed against her.

Her eyes fluttered open—and froze.

She was sitting on his lap, her arms loosely draped around his neck, his hands resting gently on her waist.

Keifer's head was tilted slightly downward, his eyes locked on her face, completely absorbed in her.

Neither of them had noticed the faint whispers coming from the hallway.

Peeking from the doorway, Percy nudged Aries.

"Uh… guys?" he whispered. "They're… really close."

Aries raised an eyebrow. "I see that. And somehow Keifer looks… dangerous in a romantic way?"

Jane rolled her eyes, whispering to Keigan, "They've basically been glued together all night."

Keigan grinned. "This is gold."

Mike Keiren added quietly, "Do we just leave them or…?"

The group stayed silent, giving the pair a moment to themselves.

Jay finally blinked, realizing how protective and attentive Keifer had been all night.

"You… stayed up?" she whispered, her voice soft.

Keifer's eyes met hers, and he shrugged slightly, trying to act casual.

"I couldn't sleep," he admitted quietly. "Not with you… like this."

Jay's heart tightened at his words.

"I… I didn't realize how much you were watching over me," she said softly.

Keifer's hand brushed a strand of hair from her face.

"Of course," he murmured. "You're not letting anyone hurt you. I… I'm not letting that happen."

Jay swallowed. "You… you're protective."

Keifer smirked faintly, almost teasing.

"And you're stubborn. It balances out."

They sat there together for a long moment.

Neither wanted to admit what they were feeling.

But the closeness, the warmth, the soft touches, the subtle glances… said everything without words.

Jay leaned her forehead against his chest, and he rested his chin atop her head, both silently savoring the calm after so many days of danger and chaos.

Meanwhile, Percy, Aries, Jane, Keigan, and Keiren finally stepped out of the hallway.

Percy pulled up his laptop.

"We need to make the safehouse impenetrable," he said seriously.

Aries nodded. "The gang's more organized than we thought. They're not just random thugs."

Jane added, "We should check all entrances and set traps… make sure no one can get in unnoticed."

Keigan whistled softly. "And we have to track their movements. Find out who's in charge."

Mike Keiren tapped his fingers. "I can help with cameras."

Keifer finally spoke, still holding Jay gently in his lap.

"They won't get near her. Not while I'm here."

Jay looked up at him, a small smile playing on her lips.

"And I'm not helpless either."

Keifer's smile softened. "I know. But it's my job to make sure you're safe."

Jay pressed closer to him.

"Good," she murmured.

Far away, the gang leader watched a monitor showing the safehouse.

"They moved her," he said sharply. "Good. But this isn't over. Everyone knows their positions. Tonight… we strike."

The threat was growing.

But inside the safehouse…

Jay and Keifer had each other, and for now, that was enough.
