Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: System Bug? Spending 150,000 Violation Points in Anger!

Damn...

I can't hold on much longer...

Kane's eyelids grew heavier, feeling as if the entire world was spinning around him.

The Conqueror's Haki impacts from those three monsters washed over his pitiful mental strength in wave after wave.

If this continued, forget about earning points—he'd become a drooling idiot on the deck.

[System, open the panel!]

Using the last of his strength, Kane roared inwardly.

Screw it! He had been saving up for a big draw, but now it seemed if he didn't spend now, he'd be shaken to death by the Haki of these three monsters!

A blue light screen unfolded across his retina. Kane's previously dazed eyes widened abruptly the moment they scanned the balance.

[Current Violation Value Balance: 185,200 points.]

"?!"

For a moment, Kane even thought he had been shaken into hallucinating.

If he remembered correctly, it should have been only 85,000 points before?

Where did this extra 100,000 points come from? A windfall from the sky?

[System, did you glitch? Where did this money come from?]

The system's cold mechanical voice echoed in his mind:

[Notice: Due to the host's unauthorized alteration of the battle plan, Garp arrived at the battlefield ahead of schedule, directly interrupting the historical progression of the "Ed War"!]} The worldline has undergone drastic changes!]

"So that's it..."

Kane suddenly understood, then felt ecstatic.

Bringing Garp ahead of time actually earned him a full 100,000 points?!

Well, in the original Ed War, Roger and Golden Lion fought one-on-one, with Roger barely escaping by luck. Now, with Garp thrown into the mix as a wild card, who knew how this battle would turn out!

Is this the value of changing history?!

Love it, love it!

Now that he had resources, Kane's confidence instantly surged.

Nearly 200,000 points—a huge sum!

[System! No more nonsense! Is there anything that can resist Conqueror's Haki impacts? Recommend something quick!]

The light screen flickered, and a skill popped up.

[Skill Learning: Mental Barrier (Intermediate).]

[Can construct a barrier on the mental level, effectively resisting mental impacts and illusion-based attacks.]

[Required Violation Value: 50,000 points.]

Fifty thousand points.

In the past, this expense would have made Kane lose sleep from heartache.

But now?

I'm rich!

"Exchange!"

Kane's resolve didn't hesitate in the slightest.

[Ding! 50,000 Violation Points spent.]

[Mental Barrier (Intermediate) has been loaded.]

Buzz—!

Almost instantly, Kane felt an invisible wall rise within his nearly torn-apart mental sea.

The raging, almost tangible Conqueror's Haki outside still raged, crashing against his mental defenses with rumbling impacts, but it could no longer shake his consciousness in the slightest.

The world fell silent.

"Huff... huff..."

Leaning on the railing, Kane casually wiped the cold sweat and nosebleed from his face, staggering as he straightened up again.

He raised his head, his gaze once again turning toward the chaotic battlefield.

The monsters of three eras were still locked in fierce combat, each collision causing the sea itself to wail.

Golden Lion fought one against two, relying on the power of his Float-Float Fruit to nimbly dart and weave through the air. For a time, he managed to hold his own against the two legends.

But the fleets behind him were not so fortunate.

The residual shockwaves from the trio's battle were indiscriminate natural disasters.

Giant waves, slashing attacks, and shockwaves from fists swept madly across the sea.

Those unlucky pirate ships were either shattered by massive waves, sliced in half by cutting strikes, or directly blown apart by the force of the shockwaves.

The entire Edd War sea had already transformed into a burning hell.

"Gyahahahaha! You think this is enough to defeat me?!"

Golden Lion flipped through the air, narrowly avoiding a steel fist from Garp, his face revealing undisguised arrogance.

"My fleet is endless! I can simply wear the two of you down to death!"

He spoke the truth.

Roger had only one ship. Garp had only one ship.

But he—he had dozens!

Once these two exhausted themselves, the final victor could only be him, Golden Lion!

In the shadow of the mast, Kane looked up at that overbearing figure in the sky and smiled.

A large fleet?

Good.

Then let your fleet become your greatest burden.

But with his current level of fruit development, trying to fully control the weather under the watchful eyes of powerhouses of this caliber was still somewhat difficult.

In that case—

Time to spend!

"System, I want to exchange for—[Fruit Ability · Deep Development]!"

[Ding! Deep Mastery of Fruit Ability: Skip the long accumulation and exploration, directly elevating the host's understanding of the "Storm Fruit" to a profound level.]

[Ability range, control precision, and natural synchronization rate will be significantly enhanced.]

[Requires 100,000 Violation Value points! Confirm?]

Another hundred thousand points.

The windfall he had just obtained hadn't even warmed his hands before it was about to be spent.

But looking at the arrogant Golden Lion in the distance, at those dozens of moving "medals of merit" and "Violation Value," Kane's eyes were filled with unwavering resolve.

"Confirm! Max it out!!"

[Ding! 100,000 Violation Value points deducted! Enhancement commencing…]

You can't catch a wolf without risking the child!

If handled well, the returns from spending these 100,000 points would far exceed the cost!

Moreover, this feeling of controlling all power…

Was just too damn intoxicating!

Boom!

A massive stream of information instantly flooded his mind.

The language of the wind, the structure of clouds, the flow of air pressure, the leap of electric charge…

He felt as though his body had vanished, transforming into the wind, into the clouds, into the ever-present currents of the world.

The immense air pressure system that had once felt barely movable in his perception now became as docile as a toy in his hands.

Every wisp of airflow within a hundred miles became a string at his fingertips.

Everything, everything was under his control!

He would forcibly compress the storm that was supposed to reach its peak hours later, detonating it ahead of time!

And amplify its power tenfold!

No, a hundredfold!

The sky darkened.

The lightning that had merely been weaving through the clouds moments before now danced like billions of silver serpents across the pitch-black sky, casting a ghastly pallor on everyone's faces.

Then, the wind stopped.

Falling into an eerie silence.

The three engaged in fierce combat instinctively halted their movements and looked up at the sky.

"Hmm?"

Garp furrowed his brow, sensing something amiss.

"This weather... feels strange," Rayleigh remarked with a grave expression aboard the Oro Jackson.

Only Golden Lion continued to laugh maniacally.

"Zehahaha! See! Even the heavens are on my side! This storm will be the prelude to your burial!"

"Is that so?"

From the shadows of the Lookout Platform, Kane let out a cold, mocking laugh.

"Then... let the wind rise."
