A man sat positioned in the sky, he wore a green cloak that sat covering a black tactical uniform set. He was placed on a wooden staff that had the head of a large bird at the front. He has soft brunette hair the was relatively wavy, its length reaching his shoulders. He possessed one dull brown left eye and one crimson red eye.
My name is Wuandril Masel.
I was deemed to have high potential at the age of 6. At age 8 I was taken in by the New Utwong School Of Spiritual Ascension, and lived there until 22. I proved my potential after unlocking a medium at the age of 16 after 8 years of training. It takes the form of a large wooden staff that has a carving of a bird at the tip.
My mediums name is Volucris Oculus
It allows me to summon different types of infused birds from the beak of the bird that's placed on the staff. These birds allow me to treat them as an extension of myself, they require little Anima to maintain after being formed. I can also use Volucris Oculus as a device to fly around on.
These powers and the New Utwong School Of Spiritual Ascension barrier techniques allowed me to gain the title of Owl Eye.
The New Utwong School Of Spiritual Ascension barrier techniques allows me to mask my presence. It can erase the sound, smell and 'aura' I give off unless the person is of a far greater level than that of the user, this allows me to be totally invisible to most people. A drawback to this is that I cannot physically move too much, however this can be offsetted by my mediums ability of flight.
With that the boss asked me to keep an eye on this kid, he said he took him under his wing due to his crazy talent. He took him up the double flower peak mountain and left him here to fend for himself. He should have been annoyed but compared to his normal work this was like a vacation he seemed to be enjoying himself.
Over the last 6 days he had observed that the boy has just been repeating the same meditation and physical exercises. He had also found the river two hundred metres from him, due to the high levels of Anima present the water has an extremely clean and refreshing taste. Over the last two days he has been refilling his water supply at that river.
"His growth rate seems to be good. He must have trained for at least a year to be at this level; he is also at the second stage of his soul core."
Masel laid on his staff even though his body was far wider than his medium due to its abilities he was completely stable. He was eating a bag of fried banana chips.
The only thing that truly annoyed him was the fact the boy seemed to be staring at him. Starting around the end of the fourth day the boy started to stare just around the area Masel seemed to be occupying. Each time he moved the boy would follow him a few paces behind. Even at this moment the boy was just staring Masel down in the sky.
"Does this kid have some hidden Oculi Mutati? If he does I might have to snatch him, eyes that can see past barriers are perfect for barrier and illusion techniques ."
The boy finally stopped looking at the Owl Eye.
"I guess it's still my instincts on edge, I keep thinking someone's in the sky watching me."
"'I need to perfect my Anima Channelling before my food runs out there's no way I can defeat anything up here without it. Even the prey up here are greater than any predator I know of."'
This was certainly true on Munir's way to find the river near his base; he encountered 3 Dedire. They were similar to small deers but they possessed only one stone antler at the centre of their head. They all possessed the ability to draw in Anima, before they would release small beams of energy towards a target from each tip. Unfortunately for Munir he didn't possess this knowledge and was sent flying past his base by a barrage of beams from these creatures.
The boy began to stretch his body, the injuries from his encounter with the Dedire was practically completely healed. He body sprawled out on the floor twisting and turning his body in a weird artistic manner.
"Does the Anima in the environment help recovery?"
He thought back to all the training he had done that if it were performed elsewhere he would have him bed ridden for at least a day. However up here where the air was thinner he felt far stronger and more energised than ever.
He started to head back to his cave that he had made by default his bedroom. Planting himself on the floor he began to sense the Anima around him. Before it took an incredible strain on his body he could only maintain it for a maximum of 10 minutes before needing 20 minutes of rest. Now he had increased the time to 12 minutes with the same amount of rest.
This whole time Munir had only focused on the external spirit energy around. This was the case due to him realising he needed more of an understanding of Anima, it was also because of the incredible pain he felt when Alexander forced open his soul core.
So with that Munir copied the posture his teacher gave him however instead of focusing on the Anima around he focused in on himself. He sat there for around an hour before getting the sensation of a small lump of energy at the 'centre' of his 'essence'. He focused on this feeling for the rest of the night, by the time the day broke the night and its beams fell onto him his focus broke.
Even though the principles of sensing Anima externally and internally were fundamentally the same, perceiving one's self was far less strenuous on the user.
Also with his prolonged viewing Munir came to understand something else about the flow of Anima. He could feel the constant outflow of Anima from within his body. That spirit energy combined with that which was present around them, increased the levels of Anima present around a person for a few short moments. These short bursts are similar to that of one's heart beating the signal flashing every second.
Munir fell straight into slumber after this realisation came to him.
Upon waking later on the seventh day he forgoed his usual routine and instead began solely focusing on the outflow of Anima from his body.He originally could only feel the flow leaving his body so he merely focused on this feeling for hours straight. It felt to him like that of what a waterfall would experience with the droplets of water escaping the stream as they fell, representing the outflow of energy as it flowed around the body.
He eventually however gained the ability to force more of the Anima to exit his body. This trick created a repellent force around his body, it did however take high levels of stamina to perform. Upon doing it the first time Munir nearly fainted from the strain.
Once gaining proper understanding of this technique, the sun had fully set the whole day being spent on this one aspect. The boy even forgot to eat. So beginning his late feast the boy devoured a day's worth of food and water.
"It seems the water is nearly gone. I should get some more tomorrow in the morning."
The boy completed his meal in a record timing, the food that should have taken at least 1 hour was finished within 19 minutes. Accompanying the meal was 89 litres of water. The stuffed boy then laid there his stomach expanding 10 times its size before he succumbed to the fatigue. Thus ended the first week that Munir had been stationed on the mountain.
