Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Let me be your man

She looked at me not only with suspicion, but also with disgust… She probably thought I was taking advantage of her little sister… which wasn't exactly wrong.

But the way she looked at me irritated me to the highest degree.

Mia noticed the way she was staring at me.

"Big sister… I already explained everything… don't make that face…" Mia shouted at her older sister as she walked toward the bedroom.

I remained there with the older sister. She looked nothing like Mia, only taller, with slightly more refined features. Her gaze revealed a mixture of worry and natural authority. I stayed still, observing the tension between them. The air in the room seemed to grow heavier.

"Hello, I'm Eren…" I introduced myself, trying to establish polite contact despite my feelings.

Not a single word left her lips in response. She ignored me and followed her little sister into the bedroom. The silence weighed heavily on me. Every step echoed like a silent judgment.

I could clearly hear their argument, a mixture of tense voices and reproaches.

"Mia… listen to me. I understand that you have your reasons, but it's not right to let a boy stay here…" her sister began. Her words struck the air with gravity. The tension thickened until it became almost tangible. Every sentence seemed to weigh on my shoulders.

"Stop… it's not like… he's going to stay here forever…" Mia replied, defensive yet firm.

The argument was subtle, but every word carried weight.

In this world, when two lionesses argue to decide whose law will prevail, the only thing to do is present yourself as a cub before them.

"Mia… excuse me for disturbing you, but I bought some meat… it's just to thank you," I said near the door.

They both remained silent, as if time itself had stopped.

Mia slightly opened her bedroom door. Her older sister stood just behind her, looking at me now with the eyes of someone who was no longer asking what this guy wanted from her little sister… but whether he could be trusted.

"Huh… alright, I'm coming," Mia replied hesitantly before closing the door again.

After that, I no longer heard the sounds of their argument.

I walked toward the refrigerator where I had placed the meat I was dying to devour.

I took two plates and placed the meat on them. It was still warm.

A few moments later,

They both came out of the bedroom. Mia had already changed clothes. Her older sister stayed behind her for a moment, watching me carefully. Her eyes examined every movement, analyzing my behavior before glancing at the table.

Maybe I had set it badly. I don't know.

All I knew was that I could barely think.

I had never needed something this much.

The only explanation was that I was truly starting to become a demon… but fortunately I still had the sensation that I could eat grilled meat.

Mia noticed the meat on the table and looked surprised.

"Huh… where did you get the money to pay for this?" she asked, both curious and suspicious.

I was about to answer when her sister intervened.

"Eren… is that it?" she asked as she slowly approached. Her tone was calm, but it carried something difficult to define.

As I was about to respond, Mia interrupted again. She seemed unwilling to let her sister judge her decisions.

"Big sister, there's no need… I'm old enough to make my own decisions," she said firmly.

Her words echoed through the room. I could feel that their confrontation went beyond simple words. The emotions in the air made the situation complicated.

I looked at the older sister. Her eyes reflected genuine concern. But behind that concern, there was something else. Something strangely unhealthy and subtle that I could somehow feel.

A shiver ran through me, but I remained calm.

I threw myself at the table and began eating.

I truly felt like I could swallow every piece of meat at once, but I restrained myself.

I kept eating, deliberately ignoring the furious gaze of the older sister. The moment was becoming tense, almost dangerous.

She clicked her tongue, a sharp, cutting sound.

"Tch… this isn't over," she said as she walked out of the apartment.

The slam of the door echoed in my ears. A sense of threat still lingered in the air. The atmosphere of the scene had changed. The shadow of her presence seemed to remain in the kitchen.

Mia slightly reached out her hand in her direction, but quickly lowered it before turning toward me.

"Where did you get the money to pay for this?" Mia asked again, calmer but curious. She sat beside me almost by reflex.

"My pockets had a small fifty-dollar bill… it seems the nurses felt sorry for me and decided to spare my money," I answered simply.

Mia almost laughed but held it back. She took a piece of meat, and at that moment I could see the real Mia. She seemed happy for having stood up to her older sister, which was incredibly amusing to me.

Then suddenly, as if she had regained her senses,

"By the way, when do you plan to solve the problem with your house?" she added without looking at me. Her words were heavy, and she knew I might take them badly.

Because I knew exactly what she meant.

I smiled and handed her a piece of meat, interrupting her question.

"I know… but let's eat," I said softly.

Her gaze revealed hesitation mixed with admiration.

She looked at my hand offering the meat, and her cheeks turned slightly red. The simplicity of the moment contrasted with the complexity of our relationship. The warmth of the kitchen softened the atmosphere a little. The smell and taste of the meat created an almost human moment. Mia seemed to relax little by little.

After finishing the meal, I cleared the table. The room was now silent, but peaceful.

Suddenly my phone vibrated on the table where Mia was sitting.

I walked over to pick it up. The previous tension had been replaced by quiet curiosity. Every movement felt calculated, almost ritualistic.

Mia held my phone in her hands and handed it to me carefully.

"Uh… you have a call from Kyte," she said calmly.

I took it and answered immediately.

"Hello?"

I glanced at Mia while speaking. The conversation was brief but important. Every word carried weight. My tone surprised Mia, but she remained silent.

Kyte quickly informed me.

"You left the documents with me even though you were supposed to sign them… sigh… Monday, we'll see each other in the literature group."

She hung up without waiting for a response.

The urgency of the situation contrasted with the calm that had existed just before. The message was clear and precise, leaving little room for interpretation. The room itself seemed to breathe differently.

Mia's eyes burned with the desire to understand, but her pride prevented her from intervening.

"Thanks for the good meat. I'm going to my room," she said with a slight smile.

Her curiosity remained restrained, invisible to the naked eye.

Yes. Mia burns with curiosity and come to see me.

Since my turning point, I had understood something essential.

There are bad people.

My father had been a loving husband despite his constant absences… yet he had abandoned us. When he left, he took with him much more than a simple presence. He took something that rightfully belonged to us.

Kyte was a bright sun in the darkness.

My sun when I thought the world was about to collapse beneath my feet…

Yet that same sun had turned into a nightmare.

Beauty could become a threat without warning.

Light could conceal shadow.

Life revealed its duality with cold brutality. Every encounter carried within it a silent lesson, engraved into flesh and memory.

And today, Mia is a sun.

She shines… but one day that sun will also turn into a nightmare.

That is how this world works.

The misfortune I experienced was no one's fault. Not my father's. Not Kyte's.

Yet I also carried a part of the responsibility.

I was walking on the path my mother had drawn, convinced it was the right one. I believed that righteousness, patience, and hard work would be enough to build a worthy life.

But that path…

That path of a just and hardworking man had led me to misery.

My mother and my older sister had promised they would always be there, no matter what.

Yes… they are there. Father too.

Even if he was not present in that white space.

You are all a part of me. A presence engraved into my being.

And since you are…

Let me carve my name into hearts, into the earth, and into the sky.

Not as a righteous hero… but as his opposite.

I will offer this world the greatest stage play it has ever seen.

A play where the roles will be reversed, where light and shadow will dance together until the truth reveals itself.

I will be the hero for those drowning in despair…

The villain for the stones placed in my path…

And the calamity for this world that rejected us.

Let me be your representative.

Let me prove to you that it is possible to live… Like the opposite of what you thought, mother

These were the last words I spoke before fully accepting my nature.

Because deep inside… I knew I was becoming someone else.

This vow was not imaginary.

It was real.

Tangible.

A seed planted in my future.

I could feel something changing inside me. Slowly. Inevitably. Every breath felt heavier, deeper, as if my very existence was redefining itself.

The inner transformation had already begun.

And nothing would be able to stop it.

I am now ready to become a blood-red moon shining in the night.

Even in the deepest darkness, my light will exist. The world may turn its eyes away, but it will not be able to ignore it. Because my identity is now forged in this burning desire.

And soon… it will rise into the sky.
