"As expected, killing quests are the easiest."
Caelus lightly wiped the residual blood from his sword and looked at the daemon lying on the ground, its face contorted in a very unpeaceful death. He asked, "Logically speaking, these daemons corrupted by Chaos should not have normal minds or souls, so why do they still look so frantically terrified when facing death?"
[System: "That is because these daemons are very hard to kill. Even after being summoned to the material world and killed, they will be reborn in the Warp. However, because of your inherent traits, the essence of any daemon killed by you will be eroded by Nihility. When you kill them, they truly die."]
[System: "Furthermore, before it died, this daemon realized that Chaos corruption has no effect on you at all. It even briefly touched the Nihility within your heart. It was likely frightened to death."]
"According to that logic, what about the Servants I killed?"
["The 'Local Residency' was not just to protect you, Host. It was also to prevent your power from harming the Heroic Spirit bodies of those Servants. Therefore, your powerful erosive force of Nihility was partially restricted by the Root in the previous world. But this world's 'Visa' is open to all existences and does not require a local residency at all. Naturally, the power systems of all sorts of monsters and gods can be perfectly utilized in this world."]
Caelus crouched down to watch the daemon's corpse gradually dissolve like ink in the rain. Although he felt an urge to devour it and make it part of his shadow of existence, he thought about how ugly it looked and decided against it.
Accompanied by a slow squelching sound, Caelus turned his head and saw a grey robed mage sitting atop a tall grey Sea daemon. The other party was staring at him with huge, bulging eyes.
"Finished killing?"
The Sea Demon summoner, Gilles de Rais, nodded.
Caelus opened his system panel and looked at the ongoing quest. The person was dead, but the quest was not finished, which meant the contamination still existed.
It seemed the believers summoning daemons here were not all of them. He had to spread the Sea Demons out.
Caelus thought for a moment and realized he could not distinguish between good and bad people. Although he did not care much, out of the moral values still present in his heart, he did not want to kill indiscriminately.
However, he looked at the records of the Underhive in his book again. It said it was entirely populated by villains and gangs, terrorists who killed without blinking, who were either killing or on their way to kill every day.
"In that case, I can put my mind at ease."
Caelus issued a command to the shadow servants he had fashioned.
"Kill every living creature here besides ourselves."
Because he possessed a Nihility Core and due to the unique nature of Nihility energy itself, his energy never ran out. It was only a matter of output size.
So what he did now was use his shadow servants as energy relay stations to create the first batch of Sea Demons puppets. Then he let those Sea Demons puppets continuously use the Nihility power that constructed them to kill other existences, using those existences themselves to create new Sea Demons puppets.
In this way, the Sea Demons under his command grew more and more numerous, snowballing in size.
Naturally, he encountered troublesome existences during this time. For example, when slaughtering a stronghold of fanatical believers, those believers all had bright red skin and shouted slogans like "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne."
They seemed to grow by absorbing experience through constant slaughter and battle. These people fearlessly slaughtered among the Sea Demons as if they knew no fatigue, their weapons easily tearing through the Sea daemons' flesh as they bathed in their blood.
Caelus did not step in to deal with these believers. Instead, he was fiddling with the reward from the fourth objective of the special faction quest he had just completed.
[One time use item: Blank light cone. Effect: Extract a memory you have personally witnessed and recorded, turning it into equipment that can bring you power.]
After playing with the blank light cone, which looked like a thick pure white card, in his hand for a moment, he thought about the images in his memory and then used it.
After use, the originally pure white light cone was suddenly stained with a pitch black color like ink. Finally, within that darkness, a magnificent pure gold chalice gradually appeared, filled with crimson blood.
[Equipment: Holy Grail Overflowing with Evil.
Effect: After equipping this light cone, every attack by the wearer carries the "Evil" trait.
Side effect: Long term equipment has a certain probability of the soul being eroded by the evil within the Grail.
Evaluation: Congratulations, you have taken another step forward on the path of being a disgusting person.]
Caelus equipped the light cone directly. He waited quietly for a moment but did not sense any signs of evil erosion.
Meanwhile, those red skinned fanatical believers, who were constantly slaughtering Sea Demons puppets and were about to clear an entire area, suddenly found that the blood clinging to their bodies carried a hint of painful heat.
This feeling was not very obvious in the heat of battle, but the most crucial thing was the accompanying sensation that made them feel very disgusted. It was an urge to run away, to slack off, to collapse lazily on the ground, to think of nothing and do nothing.
This emotion called laziness was eroding their fighting spirit, making them no longer fanatical, no longer so fearless of life and death.
Some individuals' cowardice was inexplicably amplified rapidly, causing them to be unable to swing the battle axes in their hands during combat due to overwhelming fear and cowardice. This led to their blessings being withdrawn and them being easily torn apart by the Sea Demons.
The evil in the human heart has never been only those radical and conflicting ones. It also includes a series of weak and incompetent evils such as inaction, cowardice, laziness, and lack of ambition.
This led to those red skinned believers, as the subsequent battles continued, being bathed in more and more blood until they finally lost the last of their courage and were torn apart.
As more and more companions died, the fear and cowardice in their hearts were constantly stirred up, leading to faster erosion, corruption, and degradation, ultimately causing them to collapse in disarray.
They lost their courage, which ultimately led to the loss of everything.
From then on, no creature in the Underhive could stop the advance of the Sea Demons puppet army. After a full thirty hours, there was not a single living person left in the entire Underhive except for Caelus.
He, who had been sitting in the original spot in a daze, suddenly received a notification that the mission was complete.
[Main quest phase two complete. All main quests successfully completed. You may leave this world at any time.]
"It ended just like that? Only two phases?"
["Hmm, what is important is not these two main quests, but the faction missions."]
"Oh, but I have only completed one faction mission so far."
["I cannot say for sure. For now, let us leave."]
Caelus did not understand, but he followed the system's instructions, dismissed all the Sea Demons, and left this universe.
What he did not know was that not long after he left, a merchant ship that had been drifting in the Warp for who knows how long suddenly appeared outside the planet.
Inside the ship, a young man with energy flowing all over his body, energy that seemed both real and illusory and gave a sense of authenticity and unreality, opened his eyes.
He glanced at the planet outside, and after comparing the data to determine where he was, a flicker of nostalgia flashed through his previously indifferent eyes.
"It has already been 182 years since I parted ways with him and set out on this journey..."
(To be continued.)
