Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: WTF, Genshin!

"Ya!"

Accompanied by a strange cry, a strange humanoid creature wearing a mask and holding a burning wooden club lunged toward Caelus. During this, the opponent kept waving the burning wooden club, possessing a certain primitive aesthetic.

Then, accompanied by a squelching sound, a gaping maw opened beneath the masked humanoid creature. It fell directly into this mouth, followed by a scalp tingling chewing sound.

"Is this the world the System mentioned, where I can better experience various emotions?"

Caelus stepped forward and picked up the damaged mask from the grass. This mask contained some kind of energy, but it was too weak.

[Main quest triggered.]

[Main quest: Secrets. Objective: Learn three unknown hidden pasts of this continent. Reward: Path of Remembrance power.]

[System: "To ensure that you will not interfere with your normal life and thoughts in your own universe due to the power of Nihility, I specifically used my authority to manipulate things for you. I have made the reward for this main quest capable of enhancing the power and depth of your Path of Remembrance. This way, with the energy of both the Path of Remembrance and Nihility at the same rank, even if you return to your own universe, there should not be any problems under normal circumstances."]

"Thank you."

After thanking it, Caelus carefully sensed the surrounding space. In the previous world, he could actually feel the extremely thin variant of Imaginary energy in the air, named Honkai energy. In this world, he could feel various different energies. It was very chaotic.

There were seven energies with different symbols drifting and flowing in the air of this world, while beneath the earth there was a profound and heavy force enveloping all things in the world, like the meridians of this world.

There was also a power hidden very deeply, with only faint traces of its existence detectable. Before making formal contact, Caelus could not confirm the characteristics of that energy.

Caelus unslung the small backpack from his back and began rummaging through the items inside. Do not wonder why he did not know what was in the backpack he was carrying. This came with the household registration identity of this world.

On the train not long ago...

["Because the next world is quite special, your household registration has been processed, but you cannot use your Nihility abilities on a large scale in that world, otherwise the administrator of that world will probably flip out."]

Hearing the System's explanation, Caelus did not feel surprised. After all, the power of Nihility was simply too dangerous and too corrosive for living beings and various existences, so it was normal to have restrictions. Moreover, up until now, he had only truly used the power of Nihility on a large scale once, which was when cleaning up the Underhive.

Small scale use of Nihility power was actually enough for many situations, not to mention that Caelus now had the power of the Path of Remembrance, the spiral of contradiction that could constantly stack vulnerability on people, and the Holy Grail that attached malice to any attack.

Looking at it this way, it seemed that even without counting the power of Nihility, it was already enough to make people feel disgusted.

["The reason I said the next world can allow you to better experience various emotions is that there is an existence called Ley Lines in that world, which can also be described as a natural phenomenon. It records many things about the living beings of that world, including obsessions, soul emotions, and a series of other aspects. In areas where Ley Lines are active or abundant, past lives will reappear, and those are essentially just illusory projections of the past, which can fully satisfy your devouring of emotions and even souls."

"By the way, some people in that world will obtain special powers because of their strong desires or obsessions, and that power itself is strongly connected to their wishes. As a subject for research on emotions, they are also very good observation targets. You can go take a look."]

Returning to the present, Caelus rummaged through his backpack and found various wilderness survival tools, some emergency rations and water, personal identification, and an adventure notebook.

He opened the adventure notebook. There were not many things recorded inside, just a brief introduction to the situation of this identity.

An adventurer who often travels abroad, has no relatives, no friends, belongs to the existence of a background board behind everyone, and is a small character that basically no one will remember.

Caelus pulled out the folded map from the adventure notebook. After packing his things, he took the map and began walking toward the direction recorded in it, a place called Mondstadt.

When he had walked far away, a breeze blew. A young boy dressed as a bard, holding a lyre in his hand, stood where Caelus had just been standing, though no one knew when he had arrived.

The boy looked seriously at the spot where Caelus had just been standing and muttered to himself in a low voice.

"Just now there was such deep resentment here, but the wind did not tell me what happened here... This is not the old man's place. There should not be so much Demon God resentment. How strange."

The boy muttered a sentence, then gently strummed the lyre in his hand. Accompanied by the sound of notes, another breeze blew, causing the remaining aura here to dissipate.

The boy also quietly disappeared, as if he had come with the wind and left with the wind.

Caelus slowly walked toward Mondstadt. Along the way, he encountered some strange creatures, much like the mask wearing humanoid creatures he had met before.

These masked individuals seemed unable to communicate. As soon as they saw Caelus, they would start jabbering and then raise their weapons to attack him.

Among them were some powerful individuals, such as those that were taller and wielded giant axes or great shields. There were also smaller ones that possessed abilities like shamanistic sorcerers, wielding something resembling a staff. Whether they made it themselves was unclear. They used it to manipulate the seven types of active and drifting natural energies in the surroundings to attack. However, they could not manipulate all of them, only one specific type of natural energy.

Caelus had observed these masked creatures from afar and discovered that they indeed possessed their own civilization and language. These masked individuals could craft tools, make jerky, hunt in the wild, and some of the smarter ones even built houses.

Rather than calling these masked individuals monsters, it was more accurate to say they resembled primitive people in the tribal culture era who had not fully developed yet.

Finding a good spot, Caelus recorded information about these masked individuals.

Besides these masked individuals, he also encountered a type of plant based life form that disguised itself as a flower while its body remained hidden underground.

There were also energy based life forms composed of various different energies which, from their appearance, resembled the Slime often seen in stories about adventures in other worlds.

Caelus crouched down and poked the soft, squishy red Slime in front of him. The red Slime stared back at him with its blank white eyes.

After the two stared at each other for quite a while, Caelus blinked due to his instinctive cognitive response as a living being, and then helplessly declared that he had lost this staring contest.

The red Slime seemed to know it had won, and it happily hopped away.

If other adventurers saw this scene, they would surely be dumbfounded, because that was a Large Pyro Slime. Such a Slime would normally attack anyone it encountered, yet it was now coexisting peacefully with a human and had even stared at a human for a long time. How could it be so docile?

Caelus watched the Large Pyro Slime leave and continued walking toward Mondstadt. Finally, after walking for a full six hours, when the sky had turned completely dark and night had fallen, he finally reached his destination.
