Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Why Are You So Skilled at This?

"Mem~"

Mem lay on top of Caelus's head, looking at the book floating in front of her. It contained all the experiences, insights, stories, and scenery that Caelus had recorded over time.

Caelus sat in silence with his eyes closed, sensing the power of Nihility and the Path of Remembrance within him.

Nihility symbolizes that everything will return to emptiness, to nothingness.

The Path of Remembrance symbolizes the existence of all sentient beings. The emotions, insights, wisdom, and the series of traces and growth of these beings all stem from their own experiences, which is to say, memory.

In the Xianzhou, Caelus learned of the existence known as the Taiji Diagram, understanding that the two sides of Yin and Yang are not completely opposing entities. Furthermore, since Nihility has become an observable existence, that proves it has transformed from nothingness into some form of being, because this true nothingness now has a concrete existence that can be named.

Nihility itself even possesses an energy system.

Under such circumstances, it can also be called "creating something out of nothing."

So, does this mean he could try to make Nihility and the Path of Remembrance the opposing sides of Yin and Yang, with each containing the other, and in this way achieve his own growth system?

"Mem!"

Caelus snapped out of his thoughts, looked at Mem, who had floated in front of him at some point while holding the book, and said, "Mem, what's wrong?"

"Partner, like!"

Because Mem had tasted the various memories recorded in the book, those wonderful flavors, her eyes sparkled as she happily spoke to Caelus.

After that, Caelus watched Mem demonstrate the ability she possessed after reading all the memories recorded in the book up to that point.

A cluster of small pink hearts suddenly appeared in Mem's hands, followed by a strange energy from the Path of Remembrance sweeping through the surroundings. A field of ice expanded at that moment, and within this field, the memories of all living beings and even objects were sealed and frozen. Except for Caelus and Mem, any enemy whose strength did not exceed theirs by too much would be affected and even frozen.

"Mem!"

Mem placed her two short little hands on her waist, looking very proud.

"Very impressive."

Caelus reached out and rubbed Mem's little head, using the exact technique he had seen Bianka use when petting cats during his travels in the Xianzhou.

However, Mem did not seem to mind. Instead, she seemed very happy to be petted. Perhaps she could be considered a cat?

["We are about to arrive. We are about to return to your universe. Do you have any feelings of unease about returning home?"]

The system's voice rang in his ears.

"I have no impression of this hometown of mine, so how could I have any feelings about it?"

Caelus held Mem in his arms, leaning back against the sofa behind him with no expression on his face. After all, he did not even have memories of his past, so where would any feelings for his hometown come from?

["Alright, but are you really going to spend all the points you've accumulated so far on this? I think spending these points on replenishing Path energy would be more reliable than using them on this, right?"]

"I just want to try it out. After all, I am returning to my home universe. Taking advantage of this opportunity, if the experiment can be somewhat successful, I will not have to worry about accidents. If it fails, it is only a loss of the points accumulated so far. I consider my current combat power sufficient, and if I really encounter trouble I cannot handle, those points would not solve the problem anyway."

["Alright, then in that desolate space, do you want to bring this little one to accompany you? The feeling of loneliness is not pleasant!"]

"...Bring her along. In that situation, I also need someone to observe."

["Understood. All points accumulated so far have been collected and converted into equivalent training room time."]

Caelus felt as if his consciousness had sunk into a pitch-black abyss. After this strange sensation ended, Caelus opened his eyes and found that he was still in the carriage, holding Mem in his arms. However, outside the carriage, it was now pitch black, no longer the starry background he had set before.

He now felt that his ability to think had become much sharper, and various inspirations and insights had become clearer.

"Then let's start the attempt. Let's do our best together, Mem."

"I will help Partner!"

Mem floated into midair and spun around, looking very happy that she could help Caelus.

...

Herta Space Station.

"Newcomer? Do you have any projects you excel in?"

The bespectacled researcher looked at the young man standing in front of him, dressed in black, with gray hair and golden but dull, lifeless eyes.

"I... I don't really know."

Seeing the young man's slightly dazed appearance, the young researcher sighed helplessly and said,

"Whose young master was sent here to pad his resume? Your family is truly impressive, being able to send you to Ms. Herta's space station. Forget it, forget it. How about this, start with the most basic clerical work. Just fill out some forms and organize some data, that will do."

"Thank you."

Watching the young man who did not look very bright leave, the young researcher sighed helplessly. He had thought his project team could recruit a new member, but it turned out to be someone who was just here to pad his resume...

"Huh? Come to think of it, has anyone been sent here to pad their resume before? Why can't I remember? And what did that newcomer look like? How did I almost forget it in the blink of an eye? Was he just too ordinary-looking?"

The new young man, led by another senior colleague, sat down in front of a computer and began comparing data and organizing lists on the screen, using the paper documents that had been stacked on the side at some unknown time.

The senior colleague beside him had originally wanted to give the newcomer some pointers to avoid mistakes, but he did not expect the newcomer to pick it up so quickly. It was obvious at a glance that he was an experienced office worker who often did this kind of job.

Seeing this, the senior nodded in relief and went to busy himself with his own project.

The other members of this data processing room also paid no attention to the newly joined young man, as if he had long since become an unremarkable member of the place.

However, the pink unknown creature doll that the newcomer carried with him looked quite cute.

"Mem?"

"Why am I so skilled at this? I don't know. Perhaps it is residual instinct and impressions that allowed me to get started with this work so quickly."

"Mem..."

"Why would this be called pathetic? Logically speaking, having a skill to rely on is a good thing no matter where you are, isn't it?"

"Mem."

"This doesn't count as a skill? Is that so?"

While chatting with his pink pet, he processed the work piled up on the computer. Even though he had divided part of his attention, the young man did not make any errors in this regard. He looked so at ease, as if he had been working here for many years.
