Chapter 83 - "The Chamber of Bloodlines"

Chapter 79: The Chamber of Bloodlines

The heavy stone door groaned as Silas pushed it open, revealing a circular chamber that took their breath away. Unlike the cold obsidian hall, this room was carved from deep red marble. In the center stood a pedestal holding a basin filled with a shimmering, iridescent liquid. Surrounding it were high-backed stone thrones, each etched with the history of a different Alpha lineage.

"The Chamber of Bloodlines," Valerius whispered, his voice tinged with awe and caution. "This is where the ancient First-Borns tested the worthiness of their successors. It's not about magic anymore; it's about the physical bond to the earth and the pack."

As they approached the pedestal, the shimmering liquid began to boil, though there was no heat. A projection of a woman clothed in moonlight appeared above the basin. Her eyes were like the silver mark on Elara's neck. "You have faced your shadows," the apparition spoke, her voice resonating in their very bones. "But to reach the Vault, you must prove that your blood is worthy of the future. The First-Born blood is not a gift; it is a debt."

Suddenly, the iridescent liquid leapt from the basin, forming into a liquid warrior—a knight made of pure, flowing silver and gold. It held a blade that hummed with a celestial frequency.

"It's a Guardian," Silas realized, shifting into his half-wolf form. "He wants to see if we have the strength to back up our light."

The fight was unlike anything Silas had ever experienced. The Guardian didn't move like a person; it flowed like water, its blade striking with the weight of a mountain. Silas and Elara had to use their Celestial Bond not just to create light, but to synchronize their movements. Every time Silas attacked, Elara had to provide the lunar energy to pierce the Guardian's shifting defense.

"Together, Silas!" Elara shouted, sensing a gap in the Guardian's rhythm.

She channeled a burst of silver energy through her mark, momentarily freezing the liquid warrior. Silas seized the moment, his claws glowing with a golden aura as he delivered a strike that shattered the Guardian back into its liquid form.

As the liquid drained back into the basin, the projection of the woman smiled. "Strength is proven. But remember, the greatest debt is not paid in blood, but in sacrifice."

The far wall of the chamber began to revolve, revealing a passage that smelled not of dust, but of fresh, mountain air. They were getting closer to the Ancestral Vault, but the word 'sacrifice' hung heavy in the air.
