Chapter 85 - "The First Betrayal"

Chapter 81: The First Betrayal

As Elara's hand touched the golden amber casing of the First Alpha, the crystals in the vault flared with a blinding, iridescent light. The vision that had started as a flicker now consumed her entirely. She wasn't standing in the vault anymore; she was standing in the same valley centuries ago, witnessing the moment the First Luna was betrayed by the very Council she had created to protect their kind.

"The Council wasn't born out of necessity, Silas," Elara whispered, her eyes glowing with a silver fire that reflected the memories she was seeing. "It was born out of greed. They wanted to separate the Alpha's strength from the Luna's wisdom so they could control both."

Silas watched as the amber began to crack. The air in the vault hummed with a dangerous frequency. He could feel his own Alpha blood reacting to the presence of the ancestor before him. "If the Council stole the balance, then our Celestial Bond isn't just a gift—it's the key to restoring the natural order."

Suddenly, the amber shattered. The First Alpha didn't wake up as a man, but as a spirit of pure golden energy. His voice wasn't spoken, but felt in their souls. "The debt must be paid by those who carry the light. To break the curse, the Luna must offer her memories, and the Alpha must offer his pride. You must become the mirror of the first union."

Valerius stepped back, realizing the magnitude of what was happening. "They are asking for a complete soul-merge. If you do this, you won't just know each other's thoughts—you will feel every pain, every scar, and every moment of darkness the other has ever faced."

Silas didn't hesitate. He took Elara's hands, his golden eyes meeting her silver ones. "I have already seen my darkness in the mirrors. If sharing it with you is what it takes to set our people free, then I am ready."

As they began the ritual, the vault started to shake. The Council's remaining dark magic, sensing its end, began to claw at the walls of the sanctuary. Outside, the Forbidden Peaks were groaning under the pressure of the shifting magic.

"Hold on to me, Silas," Elara gasped as the memories of centuries began to pour into her. "Don't let the past drown us."
