Chapter 118 - "The Fortress of Glass Tears"

Chapter 116: The Fortress of Glass Tears

The Crystal Key in Elara's hand began to hum, vibrating with a frequency that made the very air crackle. Ahead of them, the landscape of the Starlight Valley shifted, revealing a jagged, towering spire made of translucent black ice. It was the Fortress of Glass Tears, the seat of the Winter Queen.

"The key is reacting," Silas noted, his golden aura pulsing in anticipation. "It's not just opening a door, Elara. It's connecting to the fortress itself."

As they reached the massive gates, carved with the faces of wolves frozen in eternal mid-howl, Elara placed the key into a small indentation at the center. The black ice didn't slide open; it shattered into a million diamond-like shards that floated in the air, creating a swirling tunnel of light.

Inside, the throne room was vast and silent. Frozen tears hung from the ceiling like chandeliers, each one containing a trapped memory of an Omega's sorrow. At the end of the long hall, sitting on a throne of jagged frost, was the Queen. She was a figure of absolute stillness, her skin as pale as starlight and her eyes two voids of infinite winter.

"So, the Bridge has arrived," the Queen's voice echoed, cold enough to frost the inside of their lungs. "You brought the warmth of the sun into a kingdom that chose the dark. Do you think a single key can undo a thousand years of ice?"

"It's not just about the key," Elara countered, stepping forward as her silver pulse began to push back the encroaching shadows. "It's about the truth you've tried to freeze. You weren't just discarded; you were feared. And fear is what we've come to melt."

The Queen stood up, and as she moved, the frozen wolves along the walls began to crackle and twitch. The final battle for the heart of the North was no longer a threat—it was a reality.
