Chapter 174 - Purging the First Anchor

Chapter 172: Purging the First Anchor

The foundation of the Iron Citadel trembled as the Alpha's white-radiant blade clashed against the unstable energy of the Sentinel-General. Every strike sent ripples of light through the metal floor, fighting against the suffocating crimson pulse of the Star-Eaters.

"The anchor isn't just a machine," the Ancestor shouted over the roar of the battle. "It's a spiritual conduit! To purge it, you must replace the signal of fear with the resonance of unity!"

The Omega didn't wait. She moved toward the central pedestal where the corrupted anchor—a massive, jagged crystal of dark iron—was bleeding violet energy. She placed both hands on the cold metal, closing her eyes as the Star-Eaters' screams began to echo in her mind, trying to break her will.

"You are nothing but a flicker in the dark," the voices hissed.

"I am the dawn," the Omega whispered back.

She poured every ounce of her 'Celestial Resonance' into the iron. Beside her, the Alpha felt her struggle and stepped back from the General, placing his hand over hers. The heat of their bond acted as a catalyst. The violet rot began to smoke and dissolve, replaced by a steady, rhythmic silver light that spread from the pedestal to the very walls of the Citadel.

Above them, the crimson star let out a visible pulse of fury, but the signal was cut. Inside the city, the guards' eyes cleared, the red shimmer vanishing as they fell to their knees, finally free from the celestial trance.

The Sentinel-General let out one final, distorted shriek before shattering into harmless stardust. The first anchor was pure. The planetary shield was 33% complete, but the Star-Eaters now knew exactly where their enemies were hiding.

"We can't stay here," the Alpha said, breathing hard as the silver light stabilized. "The map showed two more. We need to reach the Obsidian Depths before they send something worse than a Sentinel."
