Chapter 45 - The Butterfly Shinobu Murder Incident!

On the third day after Giyu Tomioka arrived, Xia Feng and Kanao bid farewell to Urokodaki.

Knowing that Xia Feng was leaving, Tanjiro felt quite reluctant.

Although Xia Feng was technically a superior and a senior, he was also the only person Tanjiro had met in the past two years who was close to his own age.

Before that, the only person he could talk to was Urokodaki.

Nezuko had been asleep the entire time as well—until Xia Feng arrived and woke her up…

Thinking about that, Tanjiro's eye suddenly twitched.

He remembered Xia Feng's earlier comment about asking him to marry Nezuko off to him.

Sometimes this senior really left him speechless…

Tanjiro laughed helplessly and followed Urokodaki to the doorway.

Xia Feng and Kanao had already packed their things and were ready to leave.

"Mr. Xia Feng! Goodbye!"

Tanjiro waved to him.

Looking at Xia Feng standing in the morning sunlight, Tanjiro's eyes grew a little red.

Who knew when they would meet again?

Hearing Tanjiro call out, Xia Feng looked back at him.

Then he gave a faintly teasing smile.

"It's fine. We'll meet again soon."

Tanjiro froze.

What did Xia Feng mean?

Did he mean that after Tanjiro joined the Demon Slayer Corps, they would meet again?

Just then, Urokodaki suddenly turned his head toward the house.

Nezuko stood inside the doorway, looking at Xia Feng.

"Mmm!"

She made a soft, cute sound toward him.

Seeing Nezuko's adorable expression, Xia Feng felt healed once again.

"So nice, Nezuko. You're practically an angel."

He waved at her.

"Nezuko, get plenty of rest and recover your strength. Next time I visit, I'll bring you something tasty again!"

Nezuko clenched her little fists in front of her chest in a cheering pose.

"Mmm!"

At this moment, Xia Feng had only one thought—

I'm dying from cuteness.

Finally managing to escape Nezuko's cuteness trap, Xia Feng and Kanao headed back.

Before long, the two returned to the Butterfly Estate.

After arriving, Xia Feng followed his usual routine and first went to the treatment room.

Seeing him return, all the medical staff inside stood up respectfully.

"Hey, what's this? Everyone just relaxing?" Xia Feng joked lightly as he looked around and saw only a few patients with minor injuries.

Kiyo nodded.

"There hasn't been much news of demons lately, so there aren't many missions. Naturally, fewer people need treatment."

Naho giggled.

"Fewer patients is a good thing! It means everything is peaceful."

Xia Feng smiled.

That was typical childish thinking.

Demons didn't disappear just because people ignored them.

Behind temporary peace often lurked something much worse.

Nearby, Aoi Kanzaki sighed.

"I don't think it's a good sign. Maybe those demons are just lying low and preparing something big."

Xia Feng looked surprised.

"Wow, I'm shocked you thought of that. Did you hit your head somewhere and suddenly become smarter?" he teased.

Aoi immediately jumped at him and tried to bite him.

Xia Feng easily dodged.

While dodging, he continued taunting.

"You foolish girl! With skills like that, you think you can hurt me? I'm—"

Before he finished speaking, he suddenly jumped sideways.

At the same moment, a pale hand grabbed the spot where he had just been standing.

At some point, Shinobu Kocho had appeared.

She smiled sweetly.

"My, you dodged quite quickly."

Xia Feng stopped moving, suddenly wary.

Something about Shinobu's tone felt… dangerous.

Taking advantage of his distraction, Aoi finally managed to bite his arm.

Xia Feng felt deeply miserable.

Such a cute girl—and yet she behaved like a little dog.

But he didn't have time to deal with her.

He blinked.

"Shinobu, what's wrong? Something bothering you?"

Shinobu smiled brightly.

"When little Kanao was writing to me earlier… she seemed to mention that Mr. Xia Feng developed an interest in someone's younger sister while traveling?"

Xia Feng: "!!!!"

He had completely forgotten about that!

"Listen to me, it's not like that," he said seriously.

Shinobu's smile remained flawless.

"Oh really? Then what's the truth?"

Xia Feng thought for a few seconds.

"Actually… I'm not a sister complex type."

"Believe me. I'm an upright and principled person. I could never do something like that."

Shinobu blinked, slightly surprised.

Xia Feng continued solemnly:

"I just happen to like lolis."

"Isn't that even worse?!" Shinobu exclaimed in shock.

She looked troubled as her hand drifted toward her sword hilt, seriously considering eliminating Xia Feng on the spot for the sake of public safety.

Kanao had gone to look for Shinobu in the house earlier.

When she couldn't find her, she came to the treatment room.

The moment she arrived, she saw Shinobu standing there with a dark expression and a hand on her sword.

She immediately ran over and stood in front of Xia Feng.

"Lady Shinobu, what's wrong?"

Seeing Kanao's reaction, Shinobu couldn't help laughing.

This girl truly embodied the phrase "a daughter grows up and leaves her parents."

She used to listen to Shinobu so obediently.

Now the moment Xia Feng seemed in danger, she rushed to protect him.

Shinobu sighed.

Then gently rubbed Kanao's head.

"Welcome back, Kanao."

Kanao looked confused.

What was going on with Lady Shinobu?

Still, she nodded earnestly.

"I'm back, Lady Shinobu!"

Then Shinobu looked at Xia Feng again.

"Well then, Mr. Xia Feng~ I regret to inform you that you have new work to do~"

Xia Feng: "..."

He laughed awkwardly.

"Before we talk about work… could you maybe stop adding honorifics? When you say my name like that, it feels like you're hiding killing intent."

Shinobu smiled perfectly.

"You're imagining things, Mr. Xia Feng. You're the Special Advisor—how could someone like me be disrespectful?"

As she spoke, she pulled out a letter and flicked it toward him.

The envelope spun rapidly through the air like a deadly throwing card.

Seeing this, several medical staff broke into cold sweat.

If that hit someone, it would probably punch a hole through them!

Kanao, however, wasn't worried.

She knew Xia Feng could easily dodge with his speed.

And even if he couldn't, he still had that ability that ignored attacks.

However—

In the next moment, under her shocked gaze, Xia Feng didn't move at all.

The letter pierced straight through his clothes and struck his chest.

Thud!

Xia Feng fell backward onto the floor.

Shinobu froze in shock.
