In the real world, when the story reached this point, the shinobi of other hidden villages, seeing the three Konoha genin appear on the light screen, could not help voicing their suspicions in the scrolling comments.
—"Just as I thought! First it was a movie filmed in the Land of Fire, and now it's your next generation of Konoha genin. This whole video has revolved around Konoha from beginning to end! If you ask me, this light screen hanging over the ninja world is obviously part of some Konoha plot, meant to achieve some secret, unspeakable goal!"
—"Hmph! Konoha, by creating such an evil thing that can pry into people's hearts, are you trying to start the Fourth Great Ninja War?"
—"Hey now, don't go that far. This mysterious light screen has only been showing a few minutes of video so far, and we still don't even know its actual purpose. Slapping the label of 'starting a war' on it this early is a bit overeager, don't you think?"
—"Exactly. No need to jump to conclusions yet—let's see more first. Besides, compared to something that serious, I'm more interested in that brat called Uzumaki Naruto! Look at his name, then look at the spiral crest on the back of his clothes. He really does seem to be a descendant of the Uzumaki clan!"
—"Huh? Wasn't it said that after the fall of Uzushiogakure, the Uzumaki clan was completely wiped out? How could there still be descendants?"
—"The Land of Whirlpools may have fallen, and the Uzumaki clan certainly suffered devastating losses, but saying they were completely exterminated is going too far. Don't forget, they were once one of the most famous top-tier bloodline clans in the ninja world. A family like that would have had no shortage of secret arts for survival and hidden refuges. How could they have been so easily wiped out to the last person?"
—"Not just that! Look more carefully at the black-haired boy standing beside him. Isn't that the Uchiha clan's fan crest embroidered on the back of his clothes? After Uchiha Itachi defected and slaughtered the clan, everyone thought the Uchiha had perished completely. But who would've guessed there was still a survivor—and that he'd end up assigned to the same team as an Uzumaki descendant? Now that's interesting."
—"Sigh. Back in the Warring States era, both the Uzumaki clan and the Uchiha clan were top-tier powers capable of dominating an entire region with just their clan strength alone. Who would've thought that in the era of hidden villages, they would instead end up with their legacies severed? It really is a pity."
As the comments on the light screen flashed by one after another, Sasuke—who had previously been quietly wondering why he, Naruto, and Sakura had appeared on this mysterious screen—suddenly darkened in expression.
"It's all that man's fault! He destroyed the Uchiha. He stained the entire clan with shame. I'm going to kill him!"
Not far away, Naruto also caught the comments racing across the screen. He had just been about to say something to Sasuke, but in an instant he fell silent. Slowly, tears began to slip from his eyes.
For the longest time, he had believed he was nothing more than a neglected orphan in the village. Hiding away in his cramped room, eating expired instant noodles, watching other children walk home hand in hand with their parents—those had been the ordinary scenes of his life. No one had ever spoken to him about his background or his clan.
And now, with his lineage exposed to the entire world through the comments, what greeted him was not the family history he had secretly longed for, but the cruel revelation that his clan had most likely already been massacred into near extinction.
In that instant, grievance and confusion flooded Naruto's heart, and the tears could no longer be held back.
Kakashi saw everything.
His lips moved slightly, as though he wanted to say something.
But thinking of how some truths were not yet meant to be revealed, he ultimately remained silent, merely turning his gaze away and hiding the helplessness in his eyes.
[On the screen, Naruto and his group had already been politely asked out of the theater by the staff. They were now waiting in an open area near the cinema, beside a display board for The Adventures of Princess Fūun, as though expecting someone to arrive.
During this time, Naruto still clearly had not recovered from the movie. His eyes were practically glued to the promotional poster of Princess Fūun, and his face wore an expression of utter fascination.
Standing beside him, the pink-haired girl frowned, lightly stamped her foot, and complained in an annoyed tone:
"Honestly, what's taking Kakashi-sensei so long? He's way too slow."
"He never has much sense of time," the black-haired boy replied flatly, hands in his pockets.
Hearing his two companions talking, Naruto finally pulled his gaze away from the Princess Fūun poster and joined their idle conversation. He began sharing his opinions about the film, while also taking the chance to poke fun at the pink-haired girl's taste and argue with her for a few more lines.
But everyone knew how these daily squabbles always ended. Without exception, Naruto was the one who lost in the end.
Still, this brief bit of ordinary bickering made their identities fully clear. The black-haired boy was indeed Sasuke Uchiha, the surviving member of the Uchiha clan mentioned in the comments, while the pink-haired girl was their teammate, Sakura Haruno.]
"A three-person squad with two boys and one girl... and one of them just happens to be a surviving Uchiha... Could this really be Minato's child?"
Within the borders of the Land of Rivers, Jiraiya—who had been traveling there in search of material for his writing—finally voiced the suspicion he had been holding back in a quiet murmur as the light screen reached this part.
Inside Konoha's meeting hall, Kiba Inuzuka of Team 8, who had arrived early, was plastered against the window staring at the mysterious screen in the sky. When he saw Naruto and the others chatting noisily in the footage, he immediately curled his lips in envy.
"Damn it! So Naruto's team is going to be seen by everyone now, huh? They're definitely going to get famous. Why doesn't Team 8 get a chance like that? All we can do is sit here and watch!"
Beside him, Shino Aburame was also staring at the light screen. Though he did not say anything, his subtle movements made it clear that he agreed wholeheartedly with Kiba.
He was even silently calculating to himself that if he too could appear on the light screen, perhaps his problem of having such a weak presence might actually be solved.
"Idiots. Don't think only about becoming famous."
Noticing her students' reactions, Kurenai Yūhi shook her head helplessly. Then she reached out and lightly knocked the two of them on the head, lecturing them in a stern tone:
"Have you not considered that this light screen appearing out of nowhere might be part of an enemy plot?"
Hearing their teacher's words, Hinata's gaze toward the light screen was now filled entirely with worry.
"Naruto-kun..."
[The three continued chatting. Naruto, having just been verbally beaten into silence by Sakura, could only sullenly turn his gaze back toward the Princess Fūun poster on the display board. With a look of yearning, he spoke up again:
"Do you think there might really be... a princess like Princess Fūun somewhere in this world? If I could throw myself into fire and water for a princess who's both that amazing and that kind, that would be the ultimate dream of any ninja!"
"Childish."
Sitting atop a nearby concrete post, Sasuke coldly shot Naruto down at once. "Movies are all made-up stories. Stop daydreaming about impossible things all the time."
At that moment, Sakura followed Naruto's gaze toward the poster as well. Resting a finger against her chin, she pondered for a moment before suddenly speaking in confusion:
"By the way, why did Kakashi-sensei specifically make us watch this movie before this mission?"
"There's no way that was just some random arrangement, right?"]
