Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Kafka Might Be a Little Too Intimate

From Kiana the Lord Ravager Onward: A Grand Fabricated History

Author: Better Hang Myself Than Write

Staring at the screen before her, Kiana fell into thought.

The Stellaron Hunters wanted to meet her?

But judging by the current timeline, shouldn't they be over on the Luofu stirring things up right now? How did they still have the spare attention to come looking for her?

Then again… maybe that wasn't all that strange.

For people like the Stellaron Hunters, who walked the path of the End, an existence like her probably counted as a variable.

The only question was how much that guy Elio actually knew about her.

Still, Kiana quickly brushed those concerns aside.

After all, if Elio truly could peer into absolutely everything, then the Stellaron Hunters should have come looking for her long before she built up this identity as a Lord Ravager—instead of only now making contact through such an indirect method.

The more likely explanation was that they had only recently noticed the sudden appearance of a Lord Ravager like her.

And that—

that was exactly her chance.

She needed new power banks now, and weren't the Stellaron Hunters just perfect for the role?

With the kind of pedigree the Stellaron Hunters had, every single one of them had to be a premium-tier card, right?

She only needed another 2,000 points. Just another 2,000 and she could exchange for the core!

Kiana's fingers flew across the screen.

[Thanks. I like you too.]

With eager anticipation, Kiana waited for the other side's reply.

But after the message was sent, a long while passed with no response at all.

Kiana: ...

What was that supposed to mean?

Why weren't they replying?

Had she come on too strong?

With no other choice, Kiana carefully considered her wording and sent another message.

[I really, really, really like you.]

Still no reply.

Kiana blinked, staring at the screen in confusion.

The Stellaron Hunters' mental fortitude couldn't possibly be that weak, could it? Why were they suddenly ignoring her?

According to how things usually went in novels, shouldn't the next scene be the Stellaron Hunters recognizing her unmatched talent and inviting her to join them—

then she'd refuse them with a hardened heart, and they'd start piling on all kinds of conditions to win her over?

Going by how things looked now, it couldn't possibly be that she had actually scared the other side off, right?

Just as Kiana was wondering whether she should send an emoji to lighten the mood, Kafka finally replied.

[I like you very much as well, Miss Kiana. I'm looking forward to meeting you.]

Then the terminal screen returned to normal, as if everything that had just happened had been nothing more than an illusion.

"And that's it?"

Kiana looked a little surprised.

From the other side's tone, it seemed they had simply taken her answer as agreement.

But then a new problem immediately presented itself.

Where exactly were they supposed to meet?

Nothing had been said about that at all.

Suddenly, Kiana seemed to realize something.

Following the usual plot logic, when mysterious organizations did things like this, they generally ambushed the protagonist out of nowhere, shocked them with their methods, and then got the protagonist to join their side.

And so, Kiana looked toward her room.

Uh…

There already seemed to be someone inside it.

As an Emanator, she still had at least that much perception.

Damn it.

A thief had actually broken into her house.

Who would've thought these Stellaron Hunters would be this brazen? They had only invaded the space station not long ago, and now they were back again.

"What's meant to come will come."

Kiana let out a soft sigh.

There was nothing for it now.

She could only go in and see what the situation was.

So Kiana walked back to the door of her room and pushed it open.

At once, a faint fragrance drifted toward her.

There, in the kitchen, stood a poised and beautiful woman with purple hair.

It was Kafka.

She seemed to be brewing coffee.

Watching how naturally skilled she looked, Kiana suddenly had the odd feeling that she had become the intruder instead.

"You're back?"

At that moment, Kafka naturally noticed Kiana's return as well.

She greeted her with effortless familiarity, as though this were not an illegal break-in at all, but simply a cozy little domestic scene.

"Mhm, I'm back."

Kiana nodded and closed the door behind her.

"Miss Kafka works fast. I thought I wouldn't be seeing you until at least afternoon tea."

This time, however, Kafka did not answer immediately.

She seemed to have noticed Kiana's light outfit, and a worried expression appeared on her face.

"How can you go outside wearing nothing but a nightgown? You'll catch cold like this."

As she spoke, Kafka moved through the room with practiced ease, found Kiana's clothes, and then walked over to stand before her.

"Come. Let me help you change."

Kiana was somewhat surprised, but she merely stood there without moving, allowing Kafka to undo the buttons of her nightgown one by one.

Then she lowered her gaze and looked at Kafka's focused profile.

Beneath those long lashes, there was no readable emotion at all in her eyes.

"Miss Kafka," Kiana said at last.

"This is our first meeting, isn't it? Are you always this considerate with strangers?"

Kafka let out a soft laugh.

"Well, for a child who sent me 'I like you' twice in a row over the terminal, I ought to show at least a little warmth, don't you think?"

And she still wasn't done.

After noticing Kiana's bare feet, Kafka crouched down again and casually picked up a pair of fluffy slippers from nearby.

"The floor is cold, Miss Kiana. Even if you're an Emanator, a girl should still take better care of her body."

"Come. Let me put them on for you."

"Thanks for the concern…?" Kiana replied, her expression faintly complicated.

"You're welcome."

Only after finishing all of that did Kafka finally straighten up.

"That looks much livelier."

"Now then, Miss Kiana—may we sit down, have a cup of coffee, and talk a little about this matter of 'liking'?"

Kiana obediently sat down on the sofa and watched as Kafka pushed a richly fragrant cup of coffee toward her.

"Of course."

"But Miss Kafka, the Stellaron Hunters went to all this trouble sneaking into the space station to find me. Surely it wasn't just to listen to a freshly awakened old relic talk about liking you?"

Kafka sat down gracefully on the sofa opposite her.

"Miss Kiana really is direct. In that case, I won't beat around the bush either."

"Elio's script contains nothing about you. A Lord Ravager who should never have existed, awakening at the wrong point in time… It's very interesting."

"Oh?"

Kiana took a sip of coffee.

"So you're here to correct the mistake?"

Kafka shook her head.

"On the contrary."

"We like mistakes very much."

"In Elio's script, the Stellaron on Jarilo was originally supposed to be sealed by the Astral Express. But now, it has instead been wrapped up by an unfamiliar force."

Kiana set down her cup and propped up her chin with both hands.

"Sounds like I've become a surprise bonus in your script."

Kafka nodded.

"Mhm. Which is why I like you very much."
