In the end, both Yaoshi and Lan left the Luofu, shifting their battlefield elsewhere.
Back in Scalegorge Waterscape, Phantylia immediately became arrogant again.
"Hehe~ Did you all see that?"
"Yaoshi personally intervened on my behalf! They're protecting me! They've acknowledged this perfect body of mine!"
"You wretches dared oppose me just moments ago. And now? Have you seen it clearly? Even when The Hunt itself descended, it was still stopped by Abundance!"
Jing Yuan's expression darkened to the utmost.
He had indeed seen that scene just now—Yaoshi had taken action and personally blocked Lan's arrow.
Although the two Aeons had already taken their clash elsewhere, that brief exchange alone was enough to make one thing clear to everyone present:
Abundance's regard for this Lord Ravager far exceeded all expectations.
And now, without the aid of the Reignbow Arbiter, how were they supposed to face Phantylia?
It was not only Jing Yuan. Even Jingliu, at his side, felt her heart sink.
Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced toward Cecilia's "corpse" at the rear of the battlefield. Cecilia still had not moved at all.
Could it be… she was truly dead?
Though Jingliu had only known Cecilia for a few days, she already had a rough sense of the woman's strength.
Cecilia was powerful—far more powerful than she herself was.
And over the past few days, Jingliu had also formed a general impression of her.
To be honest, in certain respects, Cecilia really did resemble Baiheng.
Both women were gentle on the surface, yet inwardly carried a faint streak of mischief.
Originally, Jingliu had assumed Cecilia was merely faking death to exploit an information gap, waiting to strike Phantylia hard at the right moment.
But the battle had already grown this desperate, and Cecilia still had not made a move.
Jingliu could not help but begin to contemplate the possibility she had stubbornly ignored.
What if… Cecilia really had died?
Died to Phantylia's sneak attack?
For a moment, even Jingliu herself could not settle on an answer.
A strange daze stole over her.
She found herself wondering: if Cecilia truly had died, would she feel sad?
After all, they had only known each other for a handful of days. Jingliu did not even think they could truly be called friends.
And yet… she would probably feel at least a little sorrow, wouldn't she?
Perhaps because Cecilia really was so much like Baiheng.
Their appearances were utterly different, but Cecilia's temperament and the path she had walked kept making Jingliu think of the friend she had once cherished most.
To the point that now, even such a simple question—would she grieve?—had become something Jingliu herself could not answer.
Suddenly, a pair of warm hands patted her shoulders from behind.
Jingliu snapped back to herself.
But in that instant, she realized she was no longer in Scalegorge Waterscape at all.
A familiar voice sounded by her ear. Jingliu turned toward it.
"This is the interstice of the Path of Abundance."
Sure enough, it was Cecilia—returned from her false death.
Jingliu took a slow breath, suppressing the turmoil in her heart. "You're not dead."
"Of course I'm not." Cecilia blinked. "I'm an Emanator of Abundance. If I died just because a Lord Ravager managed a sneak attack, wouldn't that be far too embarrassing?"
That answer, however, only made Jingliu fall silent again.
So she really was an Emanator of Abundance.
Though Jingliu had suspected as much before, hearing the woman admit it outright still stirred a strange feeling in her chest.
"So why did you pull me in here?" Jingliu asked again.
Her thoughts were still on the battle outside.
Since Cecilia was not dead, then with her added to the field, the Luofu would once more have the means to contend with Phantylia.
But Cecilia's smile faded, and her expression turned serious.
"Jingliu, I need your help with something."
"With what?"
Cecilia raised her hand, and a tender green shoot appeared in her palm—the very one Yaoshi had given her moments before.
"This is a gift from Yaoshi. It can grant a wish related to Abundance."
Jingliu stared at the shoot, her gaze shifting faintly.
She could almost guess what was coming, yet still did not dare be certain.
"What do you want me to do?"
Cecilia looked directly into her eyes. "Jingliu, these past eight hundred years… you've lived in agony, haven't you?"
Jingliu's body stiffened ever so slightly.
"Because of Baiheng's death, you hate yourself, you hate Shuhu, and most of all, you hate Abundance."
"You took hatred as your goal and sought the power to kill Abundance. Am I wrong?"
Jingliu did not answer. She only lowered her eyes.
But at a moment like this, silence was answer enough.
Cecilia looked at the quiet woman before her and sighed softly. "Playing mute won't help. I already know."
"As a doctor, I once swore that I would heal every patient who came into my care. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough research beforehand."
"Who would've thought that the very first patient I'd meet after coming to the Luofu would be suffering from a sickness of the heart?"
This time, Jingliu did not argue. "A sickness of the heart? For eight hundred years, I truly have lived like a madwoman."
Cecilia did not respond to that. She only watched her quietly.
Then the shoot in her palm began to glow with a warm, gentle light, wrapping the two of them in a veil of soft green radiance.
"Jingliu, I can help you."
"Help me?" Jingliu frowned slightly. "Help me with what? Help me kill Abundance?"
She shook her head. "No need. I will do that myself."
But Cecilia seemed not to mind at all.
"I can give you power."
"I know why you came back to the Luofu. You want to use The Hunt, Propagation, and Destruction to obtain enough strength to destroy Abundance, don't you?"
Jingliu's eyes sharpened. She had never told anyone that. Yet Cecilia somehow knew of the plan between her and Luocha.
"How do you know that?"
Cecilia smiled faintly. "I told you. I'm a doctor. A doctor has to understand her patients, doesn't she?"
She lifted her hand again, the shoot glowing even more softly, melting away the coldness surrounding Jingliu inch by inch.
"Let's make a deal. I'll give you power, and in return, you'll give me a chance to heal you."
Jingliu's gaze tightened. "You can make me an Emanator of Abundance?"
But Cecilia shook her head.
"I'll make you an Emanator of Cecilia."
"And as the price, for the next three years, you'll live for me. Which is to say…"
"Be my little puppy."
