Chapter 23 - part 23

{Between love and danger}

She turned to him slowly… still smiling.

"But…" she added softly,

tilting her head,

"why does it feel like you're hiding something from me today?"

His smile didn't disappear… but it faded just a little.

"Why would you think that?"

he asked calmly.

She stepped closer inside the tent,

wrapping her arms around herself slightly as the cold brushed against her skin.

"I don't know…" she murmured,

looking down for a second,

"you're being sweeter than usual… and that scares me a little."

A quiet silence filled the space between them.

The soft wind outside… The faint sound of the fire dying down…

Everything suddenly felt… heavier.

He walked toward her slowly.

"Tyla…" his voice was softer now,

deeper. She looked up at him.

"I meant everything I said today," he continued, lifting his hand to gently hold her face.

"Every word." Her eyes searched his… like she was trying to read something hidden behind them.

"And the 'stay with me no matter what'…?" she asked quietly.

He didn't answer immediately. And that silence… said more than words ever could.

Her heart tightened slightly. "...ian?"

He exhaled slowly… then pulled her into his arms.

Not rushed.

Not desperate.

Just… tight.

Like he needed her closer than ever. "Just trust me,"

he whispered against her hair.

She stayed still for a moment…

then slowly wrapped her arms around him back.

"I do," she said.

But her voice…

carried a small doubt she couldn't hide. Outside…

the wind grew stronger.

And inside that small tent…

something unspoken started to grow between them.

Not distance…

but something close to it.

They lay down beside each other…

She was lying on her side,

her head resting on his arm,

holding him close…

and he held her just as tightly,

breathing in the soft scent of her hair.

They wrapped themselves in a soft white blanket…

And without even realizing it… they fell asleep.

Time passed quietly.

Until… 2:45 AM.

Deep in the night—almost dawn.

Suddenly— Tyla jolted awake.

Her eyes widened as she grabbed her phone and looked at the time.

"2:45…?!"

she gasped in shock.

Then she froze.

43 missed calls.

All from her mother.

And dozens of messages.

Her heart dropped.

She quickly shook ian's

shoulder, panic in her voice.

"ian—ian!!

Wake up!"

He stirred slightly.

"It's 2:45 AM! We fell asleep… I'm dead, she's going to kill me!"

He slowly opened his eyes,

still half-asleep…

then blinked a few times as he realized what happened.

"Oh…" he exhaled softly,

sitting up a little.

"We actually fell asleep…

" Then he looked at her,

calmer than she was.

"Hey… don't panic. We'll go back now."

She looked at him for a second…

then gave a small,

relieved smile.

Tyla stepped out of the tent first…

Ian followed right after.

She got onto the motorcycle… and he got in front of her.

But suddenly— his phone rang.

He stepped away a little to answer it. Tyla noticed immediately.

His expression… changed.

Cold. Just like before.

She couldn't hear what he saying...

"Hello, Mr. İan. It's me… SEO Joon."

A pause. "He's looking for you. Your enemy… he's not stopping."

Another second of silence.

"He killed many of our men in Singapore.

I have a feeling he's getting closer.

Be careful."

Ian didn't respond for a few seconds.

"And… they saw the videos Tyla has been posting on TikTok. They're trying to find you through them."

İan's jaw tightened slightly.

"…Understood," he said coldly.

"Don't let him find my location. I don't want any mistakes."

Then he hung up.

He walked back to the motorcycle.

Tyla didn't hear anything… but she looked at him, concerned.

"ian…? What's wrong? Who was that? You look tense…

" He shook his head lightly.

" "It's just work… nothing you need to worry about."

Then he took her hand and kissed it gently.

She smiled. On the way…

Tyla finally called her mother.

"Mom…" Her mother answered immediately—her voice loud and panicked.

"TYLA!! Where the hell are you?!"

Tyla pulled the phone slightly away from her ear from how loud she was.

"Mom, I'm sorry!

I fell asleep with ian…

we slept in the tent by accident.

" Her mother took a breath,

still tense. "I was so worried about you!

I called you a million times!

" Then her tone softened a little.

"But… I'm not scared when you're with ian.

I know he protects you well.

" Tyla smiled faintly. "I'm okay, Mom. Don't worry.

We're on our way back now…

I'm really sorry."

They ended the call.

After a while…

they arrived home.

They said goodbye with a warm hug… and a soft on the lips kiss.

Then she went inside her house…

and he went into his.

As soon as ian entered— his brother,

Doo Hwan, was waiting.

"Where were you, bro? You came back in the middle of the night.

" ian replied calmly, "I was with Tyla."

Doo Hwan smirked playfully.

"Oooh… so it was a hot night,

huh?" Ian frowned immediately. "Of course not.

What are you even saying?

We barely kissed…

only three times.

And today was the first time in three months.

" Doo Hwan laughed.

"I'm kidding, little brother. But seriously…

how? You still haven't…?"

Ian cut him off.

" ofcourse No. I don't want to pressure her. She's still young…

"doo Hwan chuckled,

raising his hands slightly.

"Relax, I'm joking.

" He leaned back against the wall,

still watching him.

"…You like her that much?"

İan didn't answer right away.

"…Yeah."

A brief pause.

"I'd die for her… and I'd kill for her."

The smile on do Hwan's face slowly faded.

"…Hmm." ian's eyes narrowed slightly.

"What?"

Doo Hwan straightened,

crossing his arms.

"ian…" his tone shifted,

more serious now. "You're getting careless."

İan's expression hardened.

"Careless?"

Doo Hwan nodded slightly.

"The videos. Tyla. Going out like this…" He paused,

studying him.

"You really think no one's watching?" Silence.

"…I know what I'm doing,

" ian replied coldly.

Doo Hwan let out a quiet breath.

"No… you think you do.

" A tense pause filled the room.

Then— "They're already looking for you."

İan didn't move… but

something in his gaze darkened.

"And if they find out about her…" Doo Hwan continued quietly,

"she won't be safe.

" He hesitated…

then added: "I know you're strong…

dangerous enough to handle anything."

A small pause. "But you know him…

you know exactly what he's

capable of." ian's jaw tightened. "I won't let anything happen to her."

Doo Hwan held his gaze for a moment… then sighed.

"I know." A brief pause.

"I just hope it's enough.

" He turned slightly away.

"Because people like us…

" he murmured, "don't get second chances at a happy ending.

" Ian didn't reply. But the way his hand slowly clenched… said enough.

Meanwhile— Tyla entered her house. "Mom… I'm back."

Her mother rushed to her.

"Tyla! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Mom.

I'm really sorry…

we fell asleep by accident."

Her mother hugged her tightly.

"I told you,

I'm not worried when you're with ian but…

" She leaned closer, whispering teasingly:

"I thought you two were doing something… bad...Unholy...

" Tyla's face instantly turned red.

"Mom!!

What are you saying?!

Of course not!"

Her mother laughed. "Okay, okay… I'm sorry.

My imagination just runs wild."

Later… they both went to sleep.

Before bed,

Tyla took a shower and changed into something comfortable.

Then, smiling slightly…

she sent Ian a picture with a funny filter.

He sent one back. And finally…

she fell asleep.
