Chapter 11 - The Guild Quests

Back on the road, Mizuki suddenly gasped.

"Oh no!"

Renji blinked.

"What?"

Mizuki turned toward him with a serious expression.

"We haven't completed a single guild quest this month."

"…So?"

"If you don't finish at least three quests every month," she explained, "your guild card expires."

Renji's face slowly went pale.

"And how long do we have?"

"…Two days."

Renji groaned.

"But I can't even swing a stick properly!"

Mizuki waved her hand dismissively.

"Relax. We'll just take some easy quests."

Renji sighed.

"And my training?"

Mizuki shrugged.

"We'll do both at the same time."

The Adventurers Guild was already busy when they arrived.

Rika spotted them immediately.

"Hey, Renji! Over here!"

When Renji approached the desk, she smiled slyly.

"So you finally came to take quests?"

She handed him several papers.

"Beginner requests."

Renji looked over them.

• Gather poisonous mushrooms

• Collect medical herbs

• Repair an old monastery roof

• Slay ten goblins

Before he could speak, Mizuki quickly snatched the first three.

"We'll take these."

Rika sighed in relief.

"Honestly? Thank you. Nobody else wanted them."

Mizuki laughed.

"Renji still can't use magic or sword skills properly."

Rika blinked.

"That's… slightly worrying."

She closed her eyes and began explaining.

"You know, gathering quests aren't always availa—"

When she opened her eyes again…

They were already walking out the door.

"HEY!"

Her cheeks puffed up in frustration.

"Where are you going without listening?!"

The other adventurers chuckled quietly.

Rika immediately turned bright red.

"E–Excuse me!"

She quickly rushed back into her office.

Renji asked, "Mizuki, which quest are we doing first?"

Mizuki replied, "Let's start by repairing the monastery roof. Once we're done there, we'll head straight into the forest to finish the other quests."

Within fifteen minutes, they reached the monastery. Renji approached a nearby caretaker and asked politely, "Could you please show us which part of the roof needs fixing?"

The caretaker pointed toward the damaged section, and before Renji could even process it, Mizuki raised her hand and cast a powerful spell. In less than twenty seconds, the entire roof was perfectly restored to its original state.

The caretaker asked, "Ah, are you two from the Adventurers Guild?"

"Yes," Mizuki replied with a small smile.

"Oh, thank you so much! We don't have any strong mages around here, and we couldn't afford a new roof either. I submitted that request to the guild almost a month and a half ago," the caretaker said with relief.

Mizuki smiled gently. "Oh, no problem at all. It feels nice to help people sometimes."

Meanwhile, Renji was thinking to himself, I barely understood what just happened… she finished everything before I could even blink!

"Renji, come on," Mizuki said, turning to him. "Let's go finish the rest of the quests."

The caretaker waved at them with a warm smile. "Good luck, and may blessings follow your journey!"

Renji and Mizuki nodded politely before heading out toward their next destination.

Around 1 and a half hours Renji and Mizuki made their way toward the forest called Crimsonwood — the same forest where Renji had run earlier that morning. Mizuki said, "Renji, listen. We might have to go deeper into the forest, so be careful. This place is filled with terrifying monsters."
