What is that?
Is that the dripping of water?
I can hardly open my eyes. My head hurts. I tried to stand up—but I couldn't. My feet are in agony.
It's dark. I can't see anything. But I can hear the dripping of water. Where am I? What kind of place is this? Then I jolted as I remembered. Shit! What happened to her? Is she okay? She—
She—
Janice! How is she?
I forced myself to remember everything. At the hospital, yes! I was the one guarding her, but I left her. I told her I was just going to buy us some food, but that wasn't the truth.
That wasn't the truth! I began to sob.
Back at Ara's wake, I already saw it. I looked at her. I saw her—
Without FEET!!!
And her face was blank—I couldn't see anything!
Until Mrs. Ocampo and I brought her to the hospital. But it was still the same. Her face—still blank.
Since Ara's wake, I had been staring at her. I thought I was just seeing things. But it was still like that. Just like Ara back then, it was the same!
That was the truth, which is why I made an excuse to leave. I couldn't bear to see her anymore. It gave me the creeps! Then I remembered more. How did I end up here? What I remember is going straight to the parking lot even though no one was there. And then!
There, I remember!
Someone hit me in the head! They hit me with a hammer!
I scanned my surroundings. I started to get nervous. Tears were falling, but I tried to hold them back. I know they're just around here. They're going to kill me! They're going to kill us! All of us—they will kill us!
After a while, the door opened. A light greeted me, blinding me. There the figure was—appearing right in front of me. They were dragging—
A MAN!!!
They were dragging a man by one foot, and he seemed unconscious. I could see it even though I was still squinting from the glare.
The figure stepped slightly closer. They were wearing a cowboy hat, and in their left hand, they held a hammer. I looked at the person being dragged. This made me cry even harder. I knew the person they were dragging.
My shoulders shook uncontrollably. My crying was laced with pure terror.
This woman—she killed this man. She killed—ISKO!!!
Then she peered at me. "You're next..."
Jesus! That was when I recognized her. Why? Why her? Why does it have to be her? Impossible!
"Are you ready?" She took a swing from the left. With the hammer she was holding, she took a swing.
Wake up! Wake up! I can't die yet! I need to dodge or at least fight back. Then I tried to crawl.
Crawl.
Crawl.
What is this sticky substance on the floor?
Blood?
It is blood!!!
I'll stand up and run! But I can't stand. I looked back at my legs.
I looked back.
I looked.
I—
I give up.
Son of a bitch!
I don't have any—
FEET!!!
P.S.
— Madrigal Celeste's POV.
Her body was never found.
Please pray for her.
Oh, by the way.
You can call her—
Madge.
