The far end of the hallway had the particular quiet of spaces that weren't meant for lingering — a stretch of corridor past the last set of double doors, where the auditorium's noise softened into something distant and manageable, and the lighting was a degree cooler, less deliberate. No chairs, no signage, no reason for anyone to stop here. Aurora stopped here anyway, her back to the wall, and let herself have thirty seconds of nothing.
Then she looked at her phone.
The comments had already accumulated in the thousands, the way they always did when something happened on a live-streamed stage and the internet decided it cared. She scrolled without meaning to, the way you did when you already knew what you'd find and looked anyway.
