Liam stood up slowly from where the shock had rooted him, straightening until he was upright, and then walked toward her — not quickly, the specific, careful pace of someone who was still processing what they were seeing and hadn't fully caught up yet. His eyes moved over her, taking inventory: the way she was standing, the particular stillness of someone who had done something and was now waiting to see how it landed.
Aurora watched him cross the room toward her and said nothing. She didn't have anything ready. She had spent the better part of the afternoon preparing this and had somehow neglected to prepare what she would actually say when he walked in and found her here.
"How did you get in?"
"You told your staff to give me access to your spaces." She held his gaze. "Like our quiet spot. When they saw me at the door, they let me in."
