I wondered if I'd even like whatever condition he had in mind, but I asked anyway. "That is?"
Kol's eyes glinted with mischief. He pursed his lips, tapping his chin like he was running calculations in his head. Then he lifted his fingers, counting silently.
I scoffed at the dramatics. "Is it that hard to just say it?"
"No," he shook his head. "Just making sure the math is right."
I waited another few seconds while he finished whatever mental tally he was doing.
Then he looked back at me, holding my gaze steady.
"You're staying with me for the rest of spring break."
"What?" I laughed, eyes widening. I wasn't sure I'd heard him right. But then he nodded.
"You can't be serious."
"I am," he murmured, holding up his fingers again. "Just fourteen days left."
"Just?" The word scraped out of my throat.
He said just.
I let out another incredulous laugh, shaking my head. "How about something else?"
