The new headquarters of Sterling-Gable Architects didn't overlook Central Park or the glittering spire of the Empire State Building. There were no polished marble floors or glass towers screaming old money and quiet power.

Instead, it stood in DUMBO, Brooklyn—a refurbished clock factory reborn with intention.

Exposed brick walls stretched endlessly, carrying the faint scars of time. Massive timber beams cut across the high ceilings like the bones of something ancient and unbreakable. And the windows—wide, unapologetic panes of glass—framed the Manhattan Bridge perfectly, turning it into a living, breathing piece of industrial art.

It wasn't perfect.

It wasn't polished.

It was real.

It was raw.

It was honest.

It was us.

I stood in the center of the vast, open-plan space, the morning sunlight spilling across drafting tables that had yet to be claimed. Dust motes floated lazily in the air, glowing gold in the light.

For a moment, I just stood there… breathing it in.
