Chapter 56 - The Letter From Ten Years Ago

Mira couldn't stop looking at the photo.

Her younger self stood outside the café, smiling beside her father.

But her attention wasn't on the smiles anymore.

It was on the small piece of paper in her hand.

The one she had never noticed before.

She zoomed in on the photo again.

The words were blurry but still readable.

"See you again."

Her heart beat faster.

Because those words felt too intentional to be random.

"Mira?"

Her mother's voice came from the hallway.

Mira quickly closed the album halfway.

"Yes?"

"Are you looking at the old albums again?" her mother asked.

"Yes… just remembering the Seoul trip," Mira replied.

Her mother smiled softly.

"That trip was nice. You were so excited about everything."

Mira hesitated for a moment.

Then asked carefully,

"Mom… do you remember the café we went to on that trip?"

Her mother thought for a second.

"The small one on the quiet street?"

Mira's heart skipped.

"Yes."

Her mother nodded.

"Of course. Your father liked that place."

Mira swallowed.

"Did… anything special happen there?"

Her mother frowned slightly.

"Special?"

"Like… did I talk to someone there?"

Her mother shook her head slowly.

"I don't remember anything like that."

Then she added casually,

"You mostly sat near the window drawing in your notebook."

Drawing?

That part felt strangely familiar.

Her mother continued walking toward the kitchen.

Leaving Mira alone again with the album.

Mira looked at the photo once more.

The piece of paper in her younger hand.

Something about it bothered her.

Because it didn't look like something a child would write.

Which meant only one thing.

Someone else had given it to her.

Her phone buzzed again.

A message from him.

"I looked at the photo again."

Mira quickly typed back.

"Me too."

Another message appeared.

"You're holding something in your hand."

She replied instantly.

"A note."

The typing dots appeared.

Then his next message came.

"I noticed that too."

Mira's chest tightened.

"Do you remember giving it to me?"

There was a pause.

Then he replied.

"No."

Her heart sank slightly.

But then another message came.

"But I remember writing something that day."

Mira's eyes widened.

"What did you write?"

His reply appeared slowly.

"A note."

Mira's breath caught.

He continued.

"I don't remember the exact words."

Then another message appeared.

"But I remember why I wrote it."

Mira felt nervous suddenly.

"Why?"

The reply came.

"Because you said something strange before leaving."

Mira held her breath.

"What did I say?"

His message appeared.

"You said we would meet again someday."

Mira felt chills run down her arms.

"Ten years ago…" she whispered.

Then he sent another message.

"At the time, I thought you were joking."

Her fingers trembled slightly.

"Why would I say that?"

His reply came.

"Because you said the meeting felt strange."

Mira closed her eyes.

That sentence again.

The same feeling.

The same words.

Even ten years ago.

Then his next message appeared.

"You said it felt like we had met before."

Mira's heart raced.

The same sentence.

Again.

"How many times…" she whispered.

Her mind struggled to process everything.

Then he added something else.

"You also said something before leaving."

Mira quickly typed.

"What?"

His reply appeared.

"You said if fate was real… we would meet again."

The room felt silent.

Heavy.

Mira stared at the album again.

At the small note in her younger hand.

Then she asked the question that had been bothering her since she saw the photo.

"Did we talk for long that day?"

His answer came after a few seconds.

"Not really."

Then another message appeared.

"Maybe ten minutes."

Mira laughed softly in disbelief.

Ten minutes.

That was exactly how long they talked at Café Aurora too.

Her phone buzzed again.

Another message from him.

"Mira."

She replied quickly.

"Yes?"

His next sentence made her heart skip again.

"Something strange just happened."

Her fingers tightened around the phone.

"What?"

The reply came.

"I found the note."

Mira's breath stopped.

"What do you mean?"

His next message appeared.

"I kept it."

Her heart started pounding again.

Ten years.

He had kept the note for ten years.

Then he sent a photo.

Mira opened it immediately.

Her hands began shaking.

Because the paper in the picture looked old.

Slightly folded.

Edges worn with time.

But the words written on it were clear.

"See you again, Mira."

Her heart skipped.

Because there was one more line under it.

One that made everything even stranger.

"Maybe in another time."
