The Nemesis Dagger flickered into Kale's hand with a mental command, and he lunged forward like a seasoned assassin, his green eyes blazing with hatred.
But to his misfortune, right before he could shove the dagger towards the neck of the illustrious Dragon Priest, one of the deacons noticed him and, with his strange powers, restricted his movement.
Instantly, stopping Kale in his tracks. He gritted his teeth, and with another mental command, the dagger disappeared from his hand. Kale struggled with all his might. But couldn't move his head or body in the slightest against the telekinetic powers of the Church Deacon.
The man spoke with a furious expression, "What the fuck are you doing, boy? The sight of the Dragon has blessed you; how dare you not kneel and worship like your life depends on it? Do you not see the mighty being descending to give us their heavenly blessing?"
Kale was stunned by the words; they were so infuriatingly stupid that he almost laughed aloud. But seeing the Dragon already halfway down, his mind spun faster and faster; there was no fucking time. Thankfully, the Deacon did not notice the dagger that was in his hands.
Otherwise, Kale would have truly been fucked.
Kale gritted his teeth, wearing a complicated expression. He eventually spoke, looking at the Deacon in the eyes, his voice filled with such conviction that the Deacon would not even have the opportunity to doubt him at a desperate moment like this, "Si….Sir Deacon. I just heard the voice of the Red Dragon; the deity told me to relay certain words to the honored priest immediately. It must be done before the deity descends. Please….."
The Dragon Priest, whose eyes had remained closed all this while, continued to pray nonstop, but upon hearing Kale's statement, his head snapped abruptly towards him, and he looked at Kale with the unhealthy intensity of a fanatic.
Kale spoke again, his expression filled with utmost sincerity, "Your Holiness, please believe me. I speak nothing but the truth. It is the deity's orders…."
Eventually, the priest gave a nod towards the Deacon, and the man released him. He walked closer to the priest in careful steps. Leaning closer towards the priest, he whispered so that only the priest could hear his words, "Fuck you and your Dragon race…."
Kale's expression instantly changed, letting out the rage he was holding back. The Nemesis dagger had already appeared in his hand, and the Dragon priest was utterly taken aback by his blasphemous words, so much so that the man's brain had literally short-circuited.
Squelch...
The dagger, like a hot knife through butter, pierced straight through the throat of the honored Dragon Priest. Kale could feel it in a mere fraction of a second. All the divine power belonging to the Dragon race stored within the horned priest's body was siphoned away by the Dark Dagger without leaving a single shred of it behind.
The arrogant and pious old priest had his entire body shriveled up like a dry corpse. The three Deacons looked at this scene in terror and disbelief. Unable to believe their very own sight. Kale did not miss that opportunity; he turned into a vicious wild beast, overflowing with wrath.
His dagger, one after another, took the life of all three Deacons. And it was exactly then that the sundering Dragons incinerating fire breath descended from the heavens, akin to a rain of hellfire.
"GRAAAAAAAAUUUUUGHHHH!!!"
The system was barely able to activate the protective transparent barrier around him, converting the energy taken from the killed Dragon church personnel, which the system absorbed into itself from the Nemesis Dagger. Kale gritted his teeth in fear and frustration.
If he hadn't thought of this, he might have been killed, since the system was really out of energy. It had no further power to protect him, as it had before.
Not only that, he knew very well that the more fire breaths the Red Dragon rains down on him, the less the amount of energy would remain.
Kale looked around, and just like what happened within Dagan, for miles and miles, every single living being was burned to a crisp. Utterly incinerated. Barely any of their ashes remain; the Red Dragon didn't give a single fuck if the humans were praying piously or standing against the creature.
It was only focused on the target it needed to kill; to the creature, nothing else mattered.
When the Red Dragon witnessed that Kale was still perfectly unharmed even after its mighty breath that could burn down almost anything and everything in this world. The winged creatures' rage flared up like never before.
The Dragon let out another destructive roar, even stronger than before. Using more of its enormous energy reservoir. But the result remained the same; eventually, Kale's lips curved ever so slightly, and his face showed a hideous, mocking grin towards the Red Dragon.
Falling at the provocation, like a brainless fool filled with unnecessary arrogance, the near-invincible creature dove down as the weight of the enormous beings settled on the ground; the very earth quaked.
Not only that, the sheer pressure exuded by the supreme race was nothing short of suffocating to the extreme. But Kale merely flashed a dark smile, his gaze unafraid, utterly defiant, a malevolent hatred oozed out from the very core of his being.
An unfiltered killing intent that the Red Dragon did not fail to notice. Kale dashed forward towards the Dragon; he knew for a fact that, unlike the last time, the heavens would not rain down thunder to save him.
Kale did not know how he even knew that fact, but the system seemed to have shoved it into his brain. So that he, the system's host, would know exactly what to do to survive.
Just as the Dragon was about to swipe down with its claws, Kale shouted, "System, direct all the remaining energy into my physical strength temporarily."
His order was registered immediately. Kale felt power surge through his muscles; in fact, the power was too much. He felt like a balloon, moments away from bursting into a million fleshly pieces.
He gritted his teeth and held on, barely managing to dodge the claw swipe of the gigantic dragon, which alone should have turned him into meat paste.
Kale put force behind his feet, and the force of it turned out to be too much; the bone in his right leg cracked instantly, but at the same time, his body flew high enough to be right in the face of the Dragon.
And how could he miss that heavenly opportunity? With all the strength he could muster in his arms, he swiped the Nemesis Dagger in a single slash, cutting one eye of the Dragon, turning it completely useless. And the Dragon screamed in pain...
GGRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGHHHHH—!!!
