Jay's POV
My hands were shaking as I walked out of the interview room.
Did I do well…?
Did I say something wrong…?
I took a deep breath and sat down.
"Jay!"
I looked up.
Kyla was standing there, smiling.
"Kyla! What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I came to see you! How was your interview?" she asked excitedly.
"I… I think it was okay," I said nervously.
"You'll definitely get it," she said confidently.
I smiled softly.
But suddenly…
I felt someone's eyes on me.
I turned.
And my smile disappeared.
A woman was standing there, looking at me from head to toe with pure disgust.
Serena Watson.
"So… you're the girl," she said coldly.
I stood up nervously.
"G-good afternoon, ma'am," I said politely.
She stepped closer.
"You work in a café, right?" she asked.
I nodded slowly.
"And now you want to work in my son's company?" she said, her voice sharp.
My hands tightened.
"I just applied for an internship—"
"Girls like you don't apply," she cut me off. "You enter people's lives slowly… and then start taking everything."
My eyes widened.
"I'm not like that," I said softly.
She leaned closer.
"You already are," she whispered.
At that moment, I realized something.
Entering Kiefer's world…
Was not going to be easy at all.
