Chapter 21: A New Beginning
Kiefer's POV
I couldn't stop smiling the whole drive back.
She said yes.
Her father… accepted me.
Everything felt right for the first time in my life.
But something still bothered me.
Mom.
I know she won't accept Jay easily.
But I don't care anymore.
I reached home and walked inside.
Mom was sitting on the sofa, as usual, looking elegant… and cold.
She looked at me.
"You seem happy," she said.
"I am," I replied calmly.
She narrowed her eyes.
"It's because of that girl, isn't it?"
I didn't answer.
That was enough for her.
"Listen carefully, Kiefer," she said, standing up. "That girl will never be part of this family."
My jaw tightened.
"She already is," I said coldly.
Her expression darkened.
"You're choosing her over your family?"
"I'm choosing what's right," I replied.
She laughed softly.
"You don't even know what you're doing."
I stepped closer.
"No, Mom… you don't know what you're about to lose."
Silence filled the room.
For the first time…
I didn't feel like her son.
I felt like someone standing against her.

Author's POV
That night marked a turning point.
Love had grown stronger…
But so had the conflict.
On one side—
A girl full of softness and warmth.
On the other—
A woman filled with control and pride.
And in between them…
Kiefer Watson.
Soon…
Everything would begin to fall apart.
